Thanks to Baby J and Christmas shopping I managed to amass an obscene amount of Boots Advantage Card points. It seemed only fair that I redeemed them against something beautiful and exciting for myself. So last week I wandered over to the Lancome counter and splurged the whole lot on these goodies.
I chose the Ombre Absolue Palette in no.203 Feline Plum which is from the recently released holiday collection. I have to admit that upon swatching these at home I realised that this isn’t quite as fabulous as the last quad I picked up from Lancome. Nonetheless, I’m still looking forward to seeing what looks I can come up with using this. The matte brown shade seemed a little chalky but the plum colour is very pretty. You can’t really tell from the swatch but it’s actually a fairly matte shadow with silver sparkle in it. It will be interesting to see what it actually looks like on the eye.

I also picked up a Colour Fever lipstick in no. 316 in Punk Chick Pink which I absolutely love. It’s quite bright but oh so wearable. I wore it on Friday with simple winged black eye-liner and fluttery lashes and I felt fabulous! The formulation isn’t at all drying and I like that it can be worn fairly sheer or built up into something more intense. However, I will say that for some unknown reason I don’t find the packaging of this lippy particularly pleasing to the eye. Maybe it’s too angular or something? Weird huh?!
I’m quite a fan of Lancome products. I’ve never been disappointed by anything I’ve tried in the past. I think they have bought out some amazing collections over the last year which have actually been fairly funky and fashion-led (case in point… they did black lip-gloss long before MAC). This isn’t necessarily something I’d expect from or associate with the brand but they’ve certainly got my attention now. Oh… and their eye make-up remover is HG stuff in my humble opinion.
