Portfolio

Since 2012, I’ve worked with many businesses across a wide range of industries. Although the people, products and services I’ve written about have been diverse, the common thread connecting all my clients is their creativity, drive and ambition. It’s been an honour to help them find their voice and play a small part in making their business dreams come true. Below you’ll find some examples of my work…

Launcells Barton

Launcells Barton is a family-owned, Grade II* listed manor house in Launcells, a small parish situated near Bude in North Cornwall. Steeped in history and set amidst stunning wooded countryside, the property launched as a unique wedding and events venue in early 2016.

Offering exclusive use and a flexible, bespoke service, owners Matthew and Lara are passionate about helping couples create a unique, relaxed celebration against a stunning backdrop of quintessentially Cornish scenery.

the brief

I first worked with Matthew and Lara in 2015 when their spectacular wedding venue was very much a work in progress. Back then, the grand Reception Barn was just a small sketch on a piece of paper! Seven years later, they were ready to rebrand and elevate their website copy to reflect where they are now and everything they’ve achieved.

Having developed a friendly, down-to-earth tone of voice that also gives an impression of quality and attention to detail, the focus this time was on clear communication, managing expectations and speaking directly to their ideal clients. I placed a great deal of emphasis on the property’s status as an exclusive use venue, as well as the bespoke nature of the service Matthew, Lara and their team provide.

the best bit

The chance to describe the venue’s unique sunset tractor rides and write, ‘if the ground is too wet… you can still go in search of those spectacular views, either on foot or via piggy-back!’

from lara

‘When we decided it was time to rebrand and launch our new website, without question I knew Franky needed to be involved again… Working with her is a pleasure. Everything is communicated and structured in a professional way, so you know when to expect things… Franky was understanding and positive and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. She just wanted to make sure we were happy, and everything was exactly how we wanted it to be.’

Hat & Halo

Parveen launched her business with two simple goals in mind – to transform the hat rental experience and make stylish millinery effortlessly accessible for all.

The Hat and Halo rental collection is small and perfectly formed, expertly curated and growing all the time. Whether you’re off to the races, attending a wedding, or navigating the dress code for an event at Buckingham Palace, Parveen has made sure the perfect fishing touch is just a few clicks away.

the brief

Parveen was building her hat rental business from scratch when she approached me about creating copy for her new website. Her energy and enthusiasm were contagious – I couldn’t say no!

As well as creating a tone of voice that feels stylish, high-end and professional, it was important to guide potential customers through the rental process. To add an extra layer of attentive customer service, I included tips for choosing a headpiece and made sure the FAQ page was thorough and effective.

the best bit

I loved developing three simple ‘reasons to rent’ for Parveen, with my favourite being, ‘hats can be tricky to store and tend to take up a lot of space in your wardrobe. Renting leaves more room for shoes!’

Lauren Elle Makeup Artist

Lauren is an award-winning makeup artist with more than 15 years’ experience. Based in the South East, she specialises in effortless beauty for modern brides. As well as flawless, fresh makeup, she focusses on creating a luxurious bridal prep experience for all her clients.

the brief

Lauren was looking to level-up her business and start attracting her dream clients. Working on a new website and a digital bridal prep guide, I infused the copy with playful, feminine touches to create a warm, friendly tone of voice with a high-end feel.

As well as describing Lauren’s signature style, I focussed on communicating her passion, knowledge and expertise. I also dedicated a lot of copy to the uplifting, memorable experience she creates for her clients at their makeup trial and on the morning of their wedding day.

the best bit

Lauren’s About page was a joy to write! I had so much fun weaving her personality throughout the copy and writing things like, ‘I love Sunday brunch, clean sheets and expensive candles… Whenever I pop to Waitrose, I always end up leaving with a bunch of fresh flowers and the arrival of The White Company catalogue never fails to make my day!’

from lauren

‘Working with Franky was the most amazing process and something I probably should have done years ago! […] She is so patient, thoughtful, knowledgeable and talented!

It’s such a collaborative project that at the end of it you feel as though you’ve been on a journey and that you have a much stronger sense of your brand and so much more confidence in it.’

Clementine Moon Floral Design

With an emphasis on scent and creating a natural sense of movement, Clare’s floral designs are experiential and unique – perfect for couples who want an elegant, flower-filled wedding with plenty of personality, style and charm.

Clare cares deeply about the environmental impact of her business and takes her commitment to sustainability very seriously, sourcing locally grown British flowers wherever possible. She also uses sustainable floristry techniques and works hard to avoid single-use plastic in her work.

the brief

Clare wanted a romantic, literary feel for her website with an emphasis on nature and the seasons. At the same time, her copy needed to speak directly to engaged couples who value sustainability and plan to prioritise flowers in their wedding budget.

Using language from nature and a range of soft, dreamy adjectives, I was able to create a warm, refined tone of voice. As well as describing Clare’s style and approach, I focussed on communicating her values and the ways they inform the quality of her work.

the best bit

Clare’s copy gave me the chance to use some of my favourite words – elegant, ethereal, otherworldly, abundant – and immerse myself in nature while writing sentences like, ‘as if gathered from an English country garden, delicate stems appear to sway gently in the breeze while their delicious perfume fills the air.’

from clare

‘I am so pleased I chose Franky to be my copywriter. From the moment I spoke to her on the phone I knew she really ‘got’ what I was trying to achieve, both with my business as a whole and with the copy…

The final result is beyond what I could have imagined – it’s just perfect.’

Merrie & Bright

Merrie & Bright is a design-led creative studio that believes in going beyond the ordinary to create beautiful brands, products, and experiences that make an unforgettable impression. Weaving creative vision and strategy into the smallest of details, they help forward-thinking brands elevate and enhance the consumer experience from the very first touchpoint.

the brief

Having first worked with Merrie in 2017 when she specialised in calligraphy and wedding stationery, I was thrilled to support her again as she embarked on an exciting new chapter in her business.

With an emphasis on creativity and beauty, the copy needed to reflect Merrie & Bright’s evolution, capturing the wide range of skills and services they now provide. To reflect the brand’s powerful blend of strategy, design and production, familiar marketing terminology sits alongside softer descriptions of handcrafted details, timeless techniques and luxurious materials.

the best bit

I loved bringing Merrie’s brand values up to date and communicating the things that make her business so unique. Of all the things she believes in, this was my favourite to express: ‘In an age of digital overwhelm, with more and more experiences moving online, building a genuine connection with your audience has never been more important. Our work is about making people feel loved and seen, noticed, and appreciated.’

Laura Hans Therapy

Laura is a Perinatal Psychotherapist. She specialises in supporting mums and mums-to-be on their journey to and through motherhood. Focusing on mental health and wellbeing, she’s on a mission to empower mothers and remind them how important it is to nurture and care for themselves as well as their children.

the brief

Laura was in the process of growing her private therapy practice when she commissioned me to rewrite the copy on her website. Although she had an excellent understanding of her niche and knew who she was trying to reach through her copy, she was struggling to bring this together on the page.

I was able to create copy with a warm, reassuring feel that also positioned Laura as an expert in her field. Since completing her website, I have continued working with Laura, planning content and producing two blog posts a month on her behalf.

the best bit

The work Laura does is so important and it’s vital her website reaches the people who need it most. I feel I captured this perfectly in her tagline, ‘Everyone Wants to Hold the Baby, But Who Is Holding You?’

from laura

‘Franky has just written the copy for my whole website and I’m really over the moon with the outcome. She’s a pleasure to work with and I would recommend her time and time again.’
