Jesse’s bedroom was one of the first spaces we tackled when we purchased our Bristol home. Just over two years later, it remains one of my favourite projects to date. We crammed so much colour into that tiny box room, it’s impossible to feel anything other than incredibly cheerful while you’re in there.

Not much has changed since I revealed that initial makeover, but I have made the odd addition here and there, the most recent of which I wanted to share with you today.

Children's Bedroom Animal Art Mister Peebles

Sea The World Art Print c/o Mister Peebles

Pretty prints, cards and posters are such a great way to update a space. Simple and affordable, they also provide the perfect opportunity to support independent artists and makers.

I’m constantly on the lookout for new and unusual pieces to adorn my walls. When Helen from Mister Peebles got in touch about her work it was love at first sight. Brimming with personality and fun, I knew her animal art would look spectacular in Jesse’s bedroom.

Inspired by Mister Peebles, a ‘shy and retiring fellow who likes nothing more than a strong tea (or G&T) and a sit down with his unusual animal companions’, Helen uses watercolour pencils, pen and puns to bring her playful characters to life through a range of greetings cards and open and limited edition prints.

Once you’ve ordered your favourite friends of Mister Peebles, Helen then creates, stamps, signs & packs up each print at Peebles H.Q. in North London, ready for you to enjoy!

Greetings cards are priced at £3.00 and wall prints from £14.00, both of which can be purchased at www.misterpeebles.co.uk along with stationery, wrap and a 2016 calendar filled with the most beautiful bears you ever did see! I’ve got my eye on Ursa Major Ursa Minor for another corner of our home. Be sure to check out the Christmas collection too, complete with ‘Holiday Armadillo’!

So, new art aside, how’s the old DIY to-do list looking in here?

  • Install blackout blinds.
  • Tweak the book and toy storage until they’re perfect. {We added a Greenaway Gallery Bookcase and an Any Which Way Book Shelf, both from Great Little Trading Co.}
  • We still need to repaint the door and I’m dead set on something colourful for the interior. I just need to pick up a tin of yellow paint.
  • Hang a piece of large-scale art on the wall behind the door {Jesse loves his Lion poster by Ingela Arrhenius.}
  • I’m still searching for the perfect small rug to go beside the bed. Any idea where I should be looking?

All small jobs and none of them particularly urgent! We’ll get there one day…
