Despite the fact I was part of the minority of MAC fans that was left, shall we say, somewhat ‘uninspired’ by the much-hyped Hello Kitty collection that was released earlier this year, I snapped these beauties up the minute I spied them in H&M. Clearly, while MAC’s interpretation of this cute cat combined with MAC’s prices left me cold, I’m happy to part with a meager £2.99 in order to sample some of Kitty’s cuteness.

And I’m so glad I did. Considering they cost under £3, I think these eye shadows are amazing. They’re not going to rock your world quite as much as Sleek’s offering, but for the most part, these shadows have a fabulous smooth texture that seems to apply really well. A couple of them do seem a little ‘crumbly’ but I can live with that.

Of the two, Devil Eyes is definitely the most impressive in terms of pigmentation. As you can see from the swatches, only one shadow out of the seven has poor colour payoff. The rest are wonderful, especially the teal and dark purple. Looking at these swatches Angel Eyes might seem less tempting. However, having used these today, I can assure you that over a good base (I used Estee Lauder Double Wear Creaseless Cream Shadow in 06 Ivory Lace) the shadows performed very well. I was able to create a nice neutral eye with a flash of purpley-brown in the crease and smudged under my lower lash line.

A great bargain find, I think you’ll agree. Meow.
