…that is the question.
Why? Well….
Chanel did clogs.
Then Vogue (via Alexa) did clogs.
Then the celebs started doing clogs.
And now NEXT are doing clogs (and no doubt countless other high street stores will be too), thus placing this particular high fashion trend within the grasp of mere mortals like you and I.
Hmmmmmm… not sure where I stand on this one.
I loved the Chanel show and I actually quite like Alexa’s Vogue cover (despite the fact that she is yet another style ‘icon’ that I don’t really get). I usually have something of an aversion to chunky heels but I do actually find myself appreciating the clog aesthetic… particularly when paired with a dainty, feminine dress (and I like the way Alexa paired them with tights too… tres chic). I also quite like NEXT’s interpretation of the trend. They’ve made them less chunky-scary-impossible-to-walk-in.
I kind of see the whole clog thing as a new spin on pairing your frock with biker boots or DMs. Clogs will definitely work better in the warmer months in this respect, allowing us to toughen up our summer frocks while keeping our feet cool.
However, the image I just can’t get out of my head is the one of my step-father pruning his begonias.
You see, his gardening shoes are a pair of well worn and permanently muddy clogs!
I just can’t make up my mind! What do you make of this look ladies? Any of you planning on purchasing some clogs this summer?

I personally hate them! But hey if they work for you why not 🙂

i’m neither for nor against them. they look good with the right outfit (like you said), but they’re not the best.
however, at least they’re not ugg boots! 🙂
@Nicola-X I def think they’re like the marmite of the shoe world… you either love them or hate them. I just can’t figure out which camp I’m in yet!
@RMb Yes, thank goodness they’re not Uggs! Now there’s a trend I just don’t get!

I think the way Rachel Bilson wears them. I can’t seem to make up my mind about clogs! :S

I LIVED in my clogs as a teenager..sounds uncool, but I honestly thought I rocked it at the time! So – I’m very happy to see their return. But, I’m tall(ish) so I’m not mad for any major height from my clogs…
@lucie Niether can I hun!
@Ondine You reminded me that my mum was totally anti-clogs when I was younger. She was convinced they were dangerous and that we’d break our ankles if we wore them. Perhaps this is why I feel I should own a pair even if I’m not totally sold on the trend itself.
I’m sure there will be loads of different ones to choose from on the highstreet so no doubt you’ll be able to find a low-heeled pair too.
