I was in such a rush to get ready last Tuesday evening that I failed to take any pictures of the outfit or make-up that I wore to my work ‘do’. Therefore, my rambling description and a little bit of shoe porn will have to suffice.

Not that long ago, I was browsing through a Joules catalogue that had recently landed on our doormat. Their womens wear generally leaves me a little cold (although, I am impressed by some of the vintage inspired pieces in their new ‘Boutique Collection’) but my daughter is quite partial to their party frocks. However, the hair and make-up in some of the promo images featured in the catalogue had me drooling! I love the messy beehive and the thick, 60s eye-liner. I need to work on perfecting this style of eye make-up as I think I default to a more traditional 50s look whenever I apply winged eye-liner. I also tend to limit myself to red lipstick but I adore the dusky pink the model is wearing in these images.

In a flurry of inspiration I riffled through the depths of wardrobe and unearthed a long forgotten gem. These pink beauties were purchased maybe 2 or 3 years ago in the Office sale. They definitely haven’t received as much love as they should have. I wore them with my trusty LBD and attempted to emulate the make-up from the Joules catalogue. The shoes provoked a few ‘ooohs’ and ‘aaahs’ among my co-workers and they certainly made me feel less been-at-home-with-a-baby-all-day-knackered, more I’ve-got-pink-shoes-and-I’m-fabulous. This is of course the least one should expect from a pair of shoes.

By some strange twist of fate, I noticed that Office is currently stocking a very similar style. Not quite as perfect as the originals I fear, but pink and spotty nonetheless.
