I can’t believe October is almost over.

November is a weird month for me. It’s full of anniversaries. The 20th will mark 4 years since my wonderful Dad passed away. He would have been turning 55 on the 23rd had he not lost his fight with cancer. Then the 25th would have seen him celebrating 14 years of marriage to my step-mother, who then celebrates her own birthday on the 27th. It’s a fairly intense 7 days for all of us but at least we get a whole load of grieving done in a short amount of time.

Below is one of my favourite pictures of me with my Dad and sister. It was taken on his hospital bed on what would be his last Christmas. Excuse the chubby cheeks… I was 8 months pregnant at the time!! Can’t get over how young my sister looks in this photo.I always tend to find myself in an extremely reflective mood during this period. One thing I’ve come to realise over the last few years is that no matter how bad things might seem, there are ALWAYS things to be grateful for.

With that in mind, and in an attempt to enter into the next month with a positive outlook, here are a few of the things that have been putting a smile on my face over the last few weeks…

  • Showing my daughter episodes of She-Ra on Youtube. She’s seriously hooked! I keep hearing her shout ‘by the power of greyskull’ at the top of her voice!! My boyfriend even dug out some of his old action figures from the attic (Hordak and Skeletor to be precise). For the last few days they’ve been holding Barbie hostage in her bedroom. Am I alone in thinking 80s cartoons were so much better?!
  • My son hitting some fairly important milestones. In the last week he has gained his first two teeth and learned how to roll over.
  • Cadburys Double Deckers. My chocolate craving seems to have hit an all time high at the moment. This delicious bar of goodness is definitely my drug of choice right now.
  • Watching Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I never, ever, ever get bored of this film and it always, always cheers me up. I seriously recommend watching it whenever you’re having a down day.
  • NARS Deep Throat blush worn with MAC GrandDuo in Moonriver. I’ve probably worn this every day this month. It’s such a lovely combination and really helps perk up my tired complexion.
  • Long, luxurious baths containing LUSH bubble bars and ballistics. The best kind of therapy if you ask me.
