I’m caught in a little bubble of excitement this evening. You see, earlier today I not only confirmed the venue for the wedding but I also booked our civil ceremony. So it’s now a pretty sure thing that at 1pm on Saturday 14th January 2012 I will become MRS Loveaudrey!

I’m really loving the way the planning process is unfolding. I’ve gone from not being able to imagine the day, the dress or anything else (other than the man waiting for me at the end of the aisle) to having this really beautiful mental image that is slowly revealing itself to me in my mind. The next step is the dress of course!

We are getting hitched somewhere very exciting, somewhere that is very ‘us’ and somewhere that fits with the overall theme of the wedding perfectly. You can’t get much closer to old Hollywood glamour without catching a plane and heading to LA.

Here’s a little clue….The incredibly handsome Gregory Peck there. Here’s another more recent picture….Did you guess?! Did ya, did ya?!

We’ll be tying the knot at Pinewood Studios! Yes, THE Pinewood Studios, as in the film studio!

To be a little more precise, we’re getting married at Heatherden Hall which is a manor house slap bang in the middle studio grounds. It is a fabulous building set among beautiful evergreen gardens. There are lots of art deco touches and it has the most fabulous ball room I’ve ever seen. Ohhhhhh the chandeliers! I feel giddy just thinking about them!

Heatherden Hall has a fascinating history. During the 1920s it was a retreat for politicians and diplomats and then in 1934 it was purchased by the prominent builder Charles Boot. He was later to meet J. Arthur Rank who he partnered in the studio project.

The first production to take place at Pinewood was ‘London Melody’ in 1936 and by it’s 60th anniversary it had produced no less than 600 films. Classic films made at the studio include ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ (which is what sold it to Izzy really), ‘Oliver Twist’, ‘Bugsy Malone’ and most of the ‘James Bond’ adventures.

The bit of film trivia that really got me excited though was that Pinewood played host to the production ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’, Marilyn Monroe’s only film ever made outside of Hollywood. I think I’ll be trying to soak up a little of that glamour on our wedding day!

Here are a few pictures pilfered from various places on the interwebs (Google, I salute you).So what do you think ladies? Do you share my excitement?!
