The fabric is so beautiful in real life, the beading so delicate. I spied it in John Lewis, it was shimmering under the shop lights. It’s by Phase Eight, a store very similar to Monsoon but, having tried on dresses in both stores, I’d argue that Phase Eight are far superior in terms of quality, they just need to expand their range a little.

I LOVE the vintage look of the dress, the gorgeous puddle train, the delicate cap sleeves and the way the beading catches the light and literally twinkles. I felt fabulous in it and I couldn’t stop smiling at my reflection in the mirror. It’s so slinky and glamorous! I never imagined I’d end up in a lace gown, which just proves you have to leave your preconceptions at the changing room door and try everything.

But the best bit, the icing on the wedding cake, has to be the price. The dress retails at £350, a bargain in its own right I’m sure you’ll agree, but I was feeling a little cheeky so I drew the sales assistant’s attention to a loose bead on the front of the gown (which my Mum could repair in the blink of an eye). She granted us a 10% discount! In the end I spent a mere £315 on a dress that I had budgeted £2k for!

Of course, it’s still the most expensive dress I’ve ever worn and I really do feel like a million dollars in it! And like I said, more money to spend on shoes (yup, I’ve bookmarked the Jimmy Choo website)!
