I love MAC.

And I love Revlon.

So, can you imagine my joy when I realised that my recently acquired (and current favourite) lip glosses from Revlon are a match made in heaven for the 2 lipsticks I picked up from MAC’s Liberty of London collection?

In the end I only bought Blooming Lovely and Ever Hip, having decided that Petals & Peacocks was too similar to Girl About Town to warrant a purchase. Peachstock was never on my wish list as I don’t really do nudes.

Both of the shades I purchased are Cremesheens. I don’t exactly love the other Cremesheen I own but I do think these are amazing. They apply smoothly with just the right amount of slip but they don’t bleed. They’re very pigmented, giving opaque coverage in maybe 2 swipes. I’m also completely smitten with the colours.

But I’m even more crazy about these lip combos.

MAC Blooming Lovely lipstick & Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss in Lilac Pastelle. I found that, when worn alone, this lipstick wasn’t doing me any favours. It made me look a little ill! The gloss softens it, providing a touch more pink that works better with my complexion. I’d love to try this with last years Lavender Whip, I bet it would look lovely. Anyone know of a lip liner that would work well with this?MAC Ever Hip lipstick and Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss in Coral Reef (I also lined my lips with MAC’s Mouth Off lip liner pencil). Isn’t this just the perfect summer lip combo? LOVE LOVE LOVE.Let’s just brush over the fact the macro setting on my camera has totally highlighted the fact my top lip needs threading. How attractive! But hey, what’s a little facial hair among friends?!

These glosses are wonderful in their own right, wonderfully pigmented and long lasting (in lip gloss terms). They work equally well layered over lipstick or worn alone for a natural gloss that isn’t too over the top. I’m almost certain that Coral Reef will be my most worn lip product this summer… it’s just the most spectacular shade.

I’m not basing this on any hard evidence but I’d venture that 2 of the other shades of Super Lustrous lip gloss from Revlon’s Spring/Summer collection (Pink Pop and Peach Petal) would work perfectly with the 2 remaining shades from the Liberty of London collection.
