With all the stress of the last week, it was inevitable that I’d eventually end up self-medicating with a spot of shopping.

I’ve had some gift vouchers for Oasis burning a hole in my pocket for a while and I finally found a few pieces in store that I not only liked but that also fitted perfectly, a rare occurrence as their size 8 tends to hang of me.

I picked up this gorgeous purple cardigan with lace detail on the shoulders. I adore jewel toned colours, so perfect for Autumn. I’m loving navy at the moment too and this knitted dress is so soft and snugly. The scoop neck and ruffles are also very flattering. I think I’ll team this with tights and my comfy tan boots, perfect for stomping around the University campus (assuming that’s where I end up next month, keep those fingers crossed ladies!)
I also bought this black jersey maxi skirt (which I didn’t see the point in photographing). I’ve been a bit skeptical about the long skirts flooding the high street at the moment as I generally shy away from anything that might be classed as a ‘trend’ but I loved my summer maxi so much that I decided it couldn’t hurt to try it on. I’m so glad I did, this skirt is like an instant makeover for your body. It is so, so, flattering! It sits quite high on the waist (which serves to suck in my slightly wobbly mummy tummy), skims over my hips and somehow manages to make me look curvy in all the right places. Plus, you don’t have to worry about the state of your legs! Love it.

You can pick this style of skirt up for much less in places like New Look but as I had vouchers I went for it regardless. The quality of the fabric does feel excellent though, and cheap jersey has a tendency to loose its shape easily. Not quite sure how I’m going to style this item yet, perhaps a low slung belt and some flat pumps? What would you do?

I also had a little splurge in Accessorize with some of my birthday money. I tried this red beret on about a dozen times. I’m never sure if hats suit me or not but in the end I decided I liked the way this looked with my fringe poking out from underneath. I’m a sucker for bows so this hairband was an obvious choice. I’ll have to hide it from Izzy though, I spotted her eyeing it this morning while I was doing her hair for school!
Continuing the bow theme (told you I love ’em!) I also picked out yet another pair of studs to add to my vast collection. I fell for the polka dot heart necklace instantly, tres cute no?
Despite the addition of these items I still feel my autumn/winter wardrobe is lacking. While I invested in expensive items like boots and a gorgeous coat last year I’m in desperate need of tops and jumpers. Oh and shoes… lots of shoes. I think I feel a wish list coming on ladies….
