A combination of sleep deprivation, hormones and the fact that nutrients from my diet and hydration from the water I drink is being diverted away from my skin by breastfeeding has caused my face to become a bit congested and dull. At times like this I usually reach for this fantastic mask from Origins. This product is designed for oily skin and is supposed to help combat congestion, break outs and excess oil. It contains zinc oxide and sulphur to absorb oil, camphor to calm and soothe the skin and salicylic acid to slough away dead skin cells that can make your skin look dull and lead to congestion. I find this mask works really well for me and leaves my skin feeling a lot clearer and less congested. I tend to use this in the evening while I’m in the bath and the following day my complexion is always a lot brighter. The mask does have a strong smell which some might find offensive! It’s quite medicinal and reminds me of Vicks Vaporub. In fact, this product would really help clear your sinuses when you have a cold! My skin tends to be quite sensitive (and doesn’t normally react well to products that contain salicylic acid as they tend to be too harsh/drying) but using this mask once a week and keeping up with regular exfoliation seems to help keep my skin clear and prevent breakouts. Origins products are not cheap (I think this reatails at £17 for 100ml) but my tube has lasted really well and I tend to think that anything that can keep my skin spot-free is worth its weight in gold!
