Shirt and skirt: Reiss {both past season}, shoes: LK Bennett. On my nails I’m wearing Chanel Gondola {LE} and my lippy is Chanel Rouge Allure in No. 71 Fatale.

OK. So it’s not the greatest photograph ever to grace the pages of this blog.

The camera has done something really strange to the pattern on my skirt. In reality it’s a very fine, geometric print in black and white, the kind that makes your eyes sing if you look at it too intently. It’s almost like a more delicate version of hounds tooth. Puppy tooth perhaps? My hair is hiding the ruffles on my shirt too. *sigh*

Still, you get the idea, no?

Perfect pencil skirt, elegant black shirt and killer heels. Simples. The skirt is high waisted and has a lovely kick flare at the back too, very figure flattering…

Please excuse my Mum’s doormat! Pro fashion blogger I am not.

Reiss clothing fits me well and I like the challenge of finding the odd gem in their sale each season. These items were purchased almost 3 years ago with around a 50-75% reduction. They have had an awful lot of wear, which probabaly stands as testament to the power of buying a few good quality, classic wardrobe staples.

Usually I’d waffle on about the sartorial magic of adding great accessories, or a few choice pieces of jewellery, to ‘make’ an outfit like this or update such classic pieces, but, truth be told, I’ve had no desire to wear anything other than my wedding and engagement rings of late. I’m still firmly stuck in the post wedding bubble and regularly catch myself gazing down at these precious items, all misty eyed and soppy with love for my new husband. ‘Bleugh. Pass the sick bucket’ I hear you cry! Alright, I’ll change the subject…

I’m still madly, deeply in love with these shoes though. They are stupidly comfy to wear {even when lost in rainy West London, traipsing round Hammersmith, desperately trying to find the location of your best friend’s engagement party} and they do that thing to your foot that means you can’t help but feel just a little bit sexy in them. Ahhhh the power of a great pair of shoes! I also carried a vintage style clutch bag from Accessorize {similar here} and some leather gloves from M&S {similar here}.

So, any devotees of the ever faithful pencil skirt out there? Are you a lover of Reiss clothing like me? Who’s coveting my shoes?!
