I was all set to wind down the blog for a few weeks so we could move house and settle into our new city, but yesterday a call from our solicitor revealed we’re now unlikely to complete on Friday as planned. I’m not going to lie, I’m feeling a little blue about the whole thing, so blogging might just be the distraction I need right now.
Last Friday, Mr. LA and I spent the day in London celebrating my un-birthday. As I had kindly agreed to share my 30th with the wedding of two great friends {!}, it was essential that any birthday treats took place on the last day of my 20s instead.
I think there were originally plans to head out for an evening meal, but as I wanted to spend some time with my sister and her chap at home, I expressed a desire to indulge one of my greatest passions instead – cake. Never one to do things by halves, Mr. LA took my simple request for afternoon tea to the next level and booked us in for a cocktail fuelled extravaganza at the OXO Tower Brasserie on London’s South Bank. It was fabulous!
If the photos seem a little thin on the ground, it’s probably because I was far too busy filling my face with this delicious array of goodies…
The entire Not Afternoon Tea menu sounded incredible. After much deliberation I finally settled on ‘Chocolate Bubbles’ and proceeded to devour the mini macaroons, white chocolate mousse and salted peanut truffles while also enthusiastically sipping a glass of Afternoon Delight. The blend of amaretto, dry chocolate spirit and blackberry and raspberry liqueurs was heavenly. I could have quite easily quaffed a couple more!
Mr. LA’s platter of sweet treats was equally inviting. We did that irritating thing couples do, exchanging bites of one another’s food while gazing adoringly at each other. Except for when we were gazing out the window at the incredible view of the river and St Paul’s Cathedral. Factor in the impeccable service we received and you’ll see why it really was a perfect afternoon.

Oh that looks lovely, always such a great way to spend an afternoon. I love the Oxo Tower, having organised a hen dinner there once, and since my wedding dress was from Candy Anthony at The Oxo Tower, I’ve had a few celebratory drinks in the bar there. The views are stunning and makes you do happy to be in London. Sorry to hear about the house, let’s hope a new week brings the news and the new start you’re ready for. X
Oooh a Candy Anthony bride! How fabulous! I was only thinking how perfect it would be for a hen party.
Thank you for the good wishes too. Hopefully everything will fall into place soon!
