My shopping habits have undergone a fairly major transformation over the last year or so. Gone are the days of returning from town laden with bags and bags of new purchases. No more impulse buys, no cheap tatt that looks tired and falls apart after 3 washes.

I’m also done with hoarding countless items that just don’t work for me. The skirts I can’t find a top to wear with, shoes that don’t match a thing in my wardrobe, and a wealth of ‘going out’ clothes that I, errr, never go out in.                                                                   Over the summer I had a major clear out and slashed the contents of my wardrobe by half. At first it felt a little daunting to see it looking so bare, but this was soon replaced with a feeling of contentment. Turns out a wardrobe filled only with things you truly love is a joy to behold.

My approach to buying clothes and shoes is far more calculated these days. I buy less and, on the whole, I buy better quality. I enjoy saving up for something special far more than the feeling I used to get blowing £100 on nothing and everything. I like identifying a gap in my wardrobe and seeking out the best item to fill it with, rather than wandering aimlessly round the shops in search of anything, just so I can come home with something.

When I sorted through my ample shoe collection I was baffled to find I didn’t own the most basic of footwear. How have I come this far in life without simple, elegant heels in navy, black or nude? The sort that go with everything and make you feel like a million dollars the minute you slip them on. Shoes like these…

It may have taken me three months to put enough money aside for these, but I knew it would be well worth the wait.

The LK Bennett Shilo heels are comfortbale to wear, incredibly well made and oh so pretty. Due to the absence of any platform, this style is slightly ‘softer’ in appearance than my beloved Sledge shoes, but they’re equally as versatile.
As you can probably tell from the slight signs of wear, these shoes have already proved their worth at a few work engagements this summer. What do we think? You like?

As for me, well, I’m already plotting my next investment purchase as I type…
