… graduating!
This involved:
- Waking up to a yummy cooked breakfast, a lovely homemade card from my daughter and some very delicious champagne truffles from my fella.
- Ironing every one’s clothes. I hate ironing.
- Driving up to campus with my mum to collect my robes.
- Doing my hair and make-up with my gorgeous sister. Her outfit was sensational. She’s much cooler than me!
- Feeling very, very nervous and excited.
- Grabbing a quick lunch. Salmon and watercress quiche, baked potato and lots of salad.
- Squeezing in to my mum’s car and dashing to the ceremony. We had no idea the car park would be so far from the Great Hall. I was madly trying to figure out my hat and gown while taking the shuttle bus all the way across campus.
- Saying goodbye to my guests and taking my seat at the back of the hall. The band were playing a Gershwin tune as I sat down and I had to fight back the tears at this point. I really, really missed my Dad.
- Kissing my very proud boyfriend who snuck down from the balcony to keep me company.
- Finally taking my place in the line-up, walking across the stage and shaking hands with the vice-chancellor.
- Smiling. A lot. I honestly couldn’t stop grinning.
- Laughing with the rest of the audience as I heard Izzy shout ‘Well Done Mummy’ VERY loudly from the balcony.
- Posing for a million pictures.
- Putting the baby to bed and settling in the sitters before going out for a delicious Thai meal. My daughter felt very grown-up and can’t stop telling people that she stayed up to almost 11pm! She also enjoyed her favourite Thai food, chicken satay.
- Drinking a lot of wine.
- Not wanting the day to end but falling into bed, snuggling with Mr. LA and talking about how proud my Dad would be.
