- Studying. I honestly feel like that’s all I did. Between working on a presentation and cobbling together a dissertation proposal, Uni work really consumed me this weekend. Dislike.
- Cursing the fact we had run out of tea bags.
- Loving Mr. LA for running to the shop at 8.30am. I really cannot function without a brew in the morning.
- Making fluffy American-style pancakes for the children to smear with Nutella. Breakfast of champions.
- Wishing I could go to the beach with the children.
- Staying in my pyjamas. I felt pretty grotty by the end of the day but I did get a heap of work done.
- Not wearing any make-up and feeling pretty scanky as a result.
- Eating cheese on toast and an avocado. The fridge was a little bare.
- Loving the cross look on Jesse’s little face when he told me about the naughty waves at the beach!
- Finally taking a shower.
- Roasting sweet potatoes for dinner.
- Studying with a glass of wine in hand. Possibly not a good idea but it made the whole process a little less painful.
- Snuggling on the sofa with Mr. LA. He watched Matrix 3 (yawn), I caught up on a little blog reading.
- Staying up far too late.
- Dreaming of having teenage children that sleep till 3pm. 7am on a Sunday still feels plain wrong, even after all these years of motherhood!
- Eating a fried egg and hot, buttery toast for breakfast.
- Feeling a little squeamish as Mr. LA gave Izzy’s very wobbly tooth a friendly tug to help it on its way out.
- Wondering why my children’s vomit/feces/snot doesn’t phase me but a tiny tooth hanging by a thread has me wretching!
- Loving how excited Izzy was about the tooth fairy paying her another visit.
- Taking a long, leisurely shower
- Enjoying the beautiful ESPA detoxifying body scrub that came free when I purchased my skincare treats the other day.
- Studying some more.
- Cooking chicken pie, smashed carrots and peas for lunch. Yummy.
- Baking Cookies and Cream Brownies.
- Catching up with friends over tea and cake.
- Talking weddings.
- Marvelling at Jesse’s rate of cake consumption. The word hoover springs to mind.
- Tucking the children into bed.
- Feeling too tired to function and enjoying a much-needed early night.

Just think, in not too long, this studying will all be over, and you’ll be revelling in how amazingly fabulous you are at managing to juggle everything that you do – and believe me, you do it well!
I barely manage to wash and dress myself of a weekend, let alone fitting in everything else you’ve done! Jamie is obviously far too high maintenance 😉
Is making pie yourself hard? I love pie, and Colin would happily eat it everyday, but I’ve never found a healthy, easy recipe!

You’re so right Laura. I’ve got 6 months to go and I know I’ll get through it. I’m not sure I’m that good at juggling everything but the stuff that needs to get done usually does, everything else probably doesn’t matter that much!
It will get easier as Jamie gets older I promise you. Once they can crawl etc they’re much more able to entertain themselves for longer periods at a time meaning you can get more done. Jesse is quite good in he morning now, he sits at my study desk and watches Bob the Builder while I put my make-up on and Izzy gets her uniform on!
I cheat a bit with pie, I buy ready-made sheets of pastry! Making the filling is eaaazzzy-peeeezy. I’ll try and post the recipe next time I make it.
