• Sleeping in.
  • Sipping tea and listening to the rain fall on the roof over the children’s playroom.
  • Eating scrambled eggs on hot buttery toast.
  • Having a lazy morning.
  • Spending more money than I’d like on groceries.
  • Secretly quite enjoying beans on toast for lunch. Not the most gourmet of meals, but perfect for a rainy Saturday lunchtime.
  • Taking Izzy to a pool party. The child really does have a better social life than me.
  • Finally sorting though the mountain of food magazines I had accumulated. I tore out all the interesting recipes and dumped the leftovers in the recycling. It cleared a huge space on my kitchen shelves, which probably means I should buy more cookery books 😉
  • Making fajitas for dinner.
  • Finally getting the children to sleep.
  • Drinking wine and catching up on my favourite blogs. I had around three weeks worth of posts to read after our holiday and a busy week back at work. I lost myself in Florence Finds, The Start-up Wife, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Homebird and The Quince Tree.
  • Painting my nails with OPI Strawberry Margarita, a gorgeous hot pink that looks great with what’s left of my tan. Chipped already though *sigh*.
  • Sleeping soundly.
  • Waking up to blue skies and sunshine.
  • Feeling excited at the prospect of watching Izzy in her end of term drama performance. She had a solo and everything! I teared up a little when she came on as a munchkin from The Wizard of Oz, singing loudly and clearly all by herself. The audience gave her her very own round of applause too.
  • Feeling very proud. Not just because Izzy was good, but because she was obviously enjoying herself. That’s what it’s all about really, this Motherhood thing, making sure they’re as happy as possible.
  • Rushing lunch so we could deliver Izzy to another party. SEE, I told you, better social life than me.
  • Making Chocolate and Peanut Butter Pie from a recipe in The Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days. I left it chilling in the fridge ready for supper time. It was heavenly. In fact I’m eating my second slice as I type.
  • Working on a post for Love My Dress while Jesse napped.
  • Taking a stroll to the park in the sunshine.
  • Wearing stripes, turn-ups and ballet pumps. It’s kind of my everyday uniform when I’m not in a dress.
  • Loving my Accessorize sale purchase. I’ve had my eye on this nautical straw basket bag for a while so I snapped it up as soon as I saw it had been reduced to £17.50. I do love a stylish bargain.
  • Cooking and eating Beer Butt Chicken which is, as the picture above illustrates, a recipe that involves sticking a can of Bud up a chicken’s bottom. The children found it most amusing, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mr.LA clear his plate so quickly.
  • Having a nightmare time trying to put the children to bed. Jesse has mastered the art of climbing out of his cot and managed to keep Izzy awake until gone 9pm. We currently have one child asleep in our bed and the other asleep in his sister’s bed. This goes some way towards explaining why another slice of that pie was essential.
  • Finally switching off and sitting down to write this blog post. I missed this place, and all of you while I was away, I really did.
