- Waking up slowly.
- Cooking and eating pancakes with fried bacon and maple syrup. It was, quite simply, heaven. Best breakfast we’ve had in ages.
- Cursing the weather.
- Deciding to wear a dress and sandals anyway.
- Feeling fabulous in said dress.
- Favouring Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation. I’ve been wearing MAC F&B almost exclusively of late but I reached for this on Saturday and loved how flawless my skin looked.
- Strolling into town and wandering round the Exeter Vintage Fair. It was wonderful, if a little crowded. There were so many beautiful things and I could have spent a lot of money but I managed to resist. There’s another one in November so I’m really hoping I’ll have a few more pennies by then. I did buy Izzy some cute bobby pins from Crown & Glory who had a stall there. I’m totally smitten with these designs and will definitely be making a purchase for myself in the near future.
- Eating pitta bread stuffed with falafel at our favourite vegetarian restaurant Herbies. Even Carl, with all his carnivorous hang-ups, enjoyed his bean burger.
- Building a small den for the children in the garden while the sun shone {briefly}. It’s amazing how much joy children can get from a couple of chairs and few towels.
- Walking to B&Q to stock up on plants for the garden. We bought mint, thyme and lavender which we planted as soon as we came home.
- Cooking a quick curry for dinner before tucking the children into bed.
- Watching a scary movie with Mr. LA while sipping ginger beer and eating haribo.
- Feeling sleepy.
- Loving Mr. LA for making me a fry-up. Hot, buttery toast, eggs and bacon. And a brew. Yum.
- Cursing the weather some more.
- Deep conditioning my hair to within an inch of its life. Loving V05’s Treat Me Right at the moment. It’s thick and creamy and leaves my hair deliciously soft.
- Setting up a massive train track for Jesse along the length of our downstairs hallway. He played with it for 5 minutes and then set about demolishing it Godzilla stylee.
- Using every towel/blanket/sheet we own to build a den under the dining room table.
- Watching the children enjoy jam sandwiches in their ‘castle’.
- Using a gap between rain storms to dash out for baking supplies.
- Making chocolate malteser cake with Izzy. We marked it with an ‘H’ in honour of my Bonus Dad Hans whose birthday it was earlier this week.
- Waiting patiently for my parents to arrive so we could enjoy aforementioned cake.
- Eating too much cake and drinking tea.
- Feeling grateful for a dry spell. the children really needed to let off a little steam after being couped up indoors all day. They scooted up and down our street for 20 minutes before the heavens opened again.
- Cooking a huge colourful bowl of pasta for dinner. One of my favourite summer recipes which combines pasta, broccoli, sweetcorn, spring onions and baby tomatoes in a dressing made from soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice and honey. Simple, delicious and generally cheerful to look at.
- Putting two very sleepy children to bed.
- Marvelling at the fact tomorrow marks the start of Izzy’s last week in year 1. Oh yes, the summer holidays are almost upon us.
- Planning an evening spent on the sofa nibbling leftover maltesers.

That pasta looks gorgeous, as does the malteasers cake. Your children are simply adorable.
@Grace London There was fair amount of bickering going on in that den too which wasn’t really adorable but, yes, on the whole they are rather lovely! Thank you.
The pasta is really scrummy. I make big batches of it so Izzy can take it in her packed lunch to school. She loves it.
And the cake, well, it was delicious. There’s none left now!

Oh that pasta looks utterly divine – will definitely be attempting this soon. Looking for lots of meat-free recipes at the moment so this is perfect.
Love the den and have been uber jealous of all your tweets. Sounds like such a fun weekend! xxx
Loving the look of the pasta dish – seems it’s a resounding success both on and off of your blog, hehe – I’ll definitely have to try that!
The chocolate malteaser cake is one of my favourites, and it looks like you (obviously) did it justice *nom nom*
Loving the den and your adorable children (bickering aside), I can’t wait to meet them soon!
Much love xxx

I have a little pot of herbs on my balcony too, but I always feel sorry to cut anything from there… Your weekend looks blissful as always. Take care, lovely x
@Lollipop Ooohh have you given up meat?? I cook a lot of veggie food as Izzy is vegetarian and I would describe myself as a slack one!
You’re welcome in one of our dens anytime honey!
@Peonies&Lilies Awww thank you! Yes, the cake was yummy, it didn’t last long at all!
@Laura Eeeek so excited for you to meet them too! I just hope they behave and don’t show me up! 😉
@Sarah Thank you, they have their moments but they are incredibly wonderful!
@confusedbrit Thank you, it means so much to hear that you enjoy reading what I write!
@Gretal Rabbit You MUST bake it, it’s so yummy! Thank you so much for the award 😀
@Rocaille It’s so handy having fresh herbs in the garden, saves a few pennies, but it does seem a shame to cut them! The lavender is making the garden smell wonderful though.
