- Waking up in my Mum’s flat in west London. My friend Kate and I had travelled up by train on Friday evening for my bride-to-be party weekend {a hen do by any other name}, sipping bubbly and eating Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference crisps all the way.
- Drinking tea and enjoying a breakfast of fruit and yogurt in my Mother’s sunlit kitchen.
- Heading to Westfield for a spot of wedding related shopping.
- Buying my wedding undies from Rigby & Peller. It’s definitely an indulgence {read: the most expensive bra I’ve ever bought} but worth every penny. The assistant was happy for me to try my wedding dress on over everything and I was thrilled with the image that gazed back at me from the mirror when I did. If you’re somewhat lacking in the boob department like me, and looking for something you can wear with a wedding dress that has straps, I highly recommend the Simone Perele Nina Bra in ivory.
- Feeling grateful for Spanx. Don’t worry, I’ll slip into something a little, ahem, comfier, at the end of the evening!
- Welling up a little when my Mum bought her outfit for the wedding. All she needs now is a fabulous hat.
- Window shopping in Tiffany’s.
- Arriving home to find my sister Nicola, bridesmaid Sarah and friend Laura had decorated the flat with balloons and pretty pictures.
- Meeting more of my gorgeous girlfriends outside St. Pauls tube station.
- Strolling to Bea’s of Bloomsbury where we enjoyed the most incredible afternoon tea. There were delicious sandwiches, a seemingly endless selection of teas {I sampled the jasmine, it was divine}, scones with jam and clotted cream, brownies, blondies, cupcakes, pistachio meringues, and homemade cinnamon marshmallows. It was, quite simply, heaven.
- Loving the teapot lampshades that dangled above our heads.
- Travelling back to my Mum’s flat for a few glasses of prosecco while we slipped into something a little more glamorous. Our adventures in hair and makeup were accompanied by my sister’s fabulous ipod play list of cheeeezy music. I do love a bit of Britney!
- Taking the tube to Leicester Square and walking to Kettners in Soho.
- Bumping into a few Zombies on the way!
- Admiring the restaurant my friends had chosen for dinner. Kettners oozes glamour and I felt as if I’d wandered on to the set of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. There was a champagne bar, a beautiful spiral staircase and a gentleman playing at a white baby grand piano.
- Struggling to decide what to eat, it all sounded so delicious. In the end I went for the fishcakes with pease pudding and shrimp butter. It was incredible, the kind of meal you remember eating forever.
- Drinking a delectable rose wine that just so happened to be called ‘Pretty Gorgeous’.
- Enjoying myself more than I thought possible and feeling very, very lucky to have such fabulous friends and family.
- Trying {and failing} to elegantly drape myself over the banister of the opulent staircase for a photograph. I fear I looked more ‘hooker’ than ‘hollywood starlet’.
- Chuckling at the friendly Belgian on the tube who told my Mum we were the most sophisticated hen do he had ever encountered.
- Laughing at Laura when she sauntered up behind me on the escalator and said ‘I just have to tell you, your bum looks amazing in that dress’.
- Polishing off the prosecco, giggling, and chatting with my friends back at the flat.
- Tumbling into bed.
- Waking up with a teeny tiny hangover.
- Enjoying an epic cooked breakfast courtesy of my Mum and my sister.
- Wishing the weekend could last forever.
- Saying goodbye to friends and setting off for home.
- Wondering if the children were more excited about my arrival or the box of leftover cakes from our afternoon tea that I bought back from London. I suspect it was the latter.

This has made me sooooo hungry. Looks just like my kind of hen party. Glamour and great food.
Fabulous darhlink mwah x
What an amazing hen party! I’ve always resolved to stay far away from pink sashes, penis straws and L plates for my own so yours is a fab inspiration….and very you! I want to go to Vegas for mine! Very excited for you, for how close the wedding is getting 🙂 xxx
Oh what a wonderful, beautiful and perfect weekend you had! Food, family, friends…. it doesn’t get much better than that does it. Nothing like a good bra purchase to make you feel all woman either 😉 haha! xx
sounds like you’ve had a pretty good time x
see, to me, thats exactly how one does a hen party properly. And I’m really, really glad to see that it seems like it was a perfect weekend from start to finish as you’re definitely deserving of some loveliness.
As always glad you included a bit of food photography that I can go ‘ooooh’ over, even if it did make me hungry! Also liked the shot of the teapot light….am now want one of my own!
But reading the post it made me feel like I’d been there with you, as your weekend posts usually do….excellent as always, in fact probably one of my favourite posts of yours!
This sounds like such a fabulous hen party, so classy and not an L plate in sight! x
