- Sleeping in.
- Huddling under the bed covers with the children.
- Heading downstairs to drink tea and lounge under a blanket on the sofa while we watched old cartoons.
- Wishing Mr. LA didn’t have to work.
- Making the children fried eggs and baked beans for breakfast.
- Retreating into the bathroom for a quick shower.
- Slipping on my favourite polka dot dress.
- Sporting coral lipstick and messy hair.
- Making an appointment for a second viewing at a house I saw last week. We think it could be ‘the one’.
- Wandering to the park to play with the children’s new Stomp Rocket. I can’t recommend this toy enough, we spent over an hour launching it into the bright blue sky above the playground.
- Pushing Jesse on the swing.
- Picking up a few groceries on the way home.
- Preparing three huge bowls of spaghetti with marmite. Such wonderful comfort food.
- Doing chores while the children played.
- Sitting on the front step until it grew too chilly.
- Cooking fish, new potatoes and peas for the children’s supper.
- Overseeing bath time.
- Reading Jesse a bedtime story and tucking him in.
- Sitting quietly while Izzy read The Little Princess.
- Giving goodnight kisses.
- Clearing away the chaos and debris of the day.
- Sorting laundry and writing lists.
- Settling down on the sofa with a delicious box of Lily O’Brien’s chocolates*.
- Painting my nails red.
- Watching Erin Brokovich.
- Remembering just how much I love Julia Roberts. Definitely my favourite contemporary actress.
- Opening the door to a tired, grumpy husband.
- Eating takeaway curry and drinking diet coke.
- Climbing into bed and sleeping deeply until morning.
- Waking up as Mr. LA placed a mug of tea on my bedside table.
- Scrambling eggs for breakfast.
- Showering and getting dressed.
- Applying winged eye-liner and red lippy. I’m a firm believer in wearing your Sunday Best {except for when I’m a firm believer in lounging about in your PJs all day}.
- Bundling the children out of the door and walking Izzy to her drama class.
- Plying Jesse with milk and bread and snuggling on the sofa for a while.
- Tidying the kitchen and writing a shopping list.
- Heading into town to buy book-shaped gifts.
- Returning home to bake treats for afternoon tea.
- Making scones.
- Making more scones. My first batch were a failure, but the second turned out just right. Trick is not to roll your dough, press it, and make sure it’s at least 3cm in thickness before you cut your rounds.
- Inhaling the tempting aroma of my lemon drizzle cake as it cooked.
- Eating soup and buttery toast for lunch.
- Greeting my sister-in-law and her family.
- Cuddling my baby nephew.
- Watching the older children play together. I love seeing the relationship between the cousins flourish. It’s so precious.
- Loading scones with jam and clotted cream, drinking tea and catching up.
- Failing to photograph the impressive spread. Too busy eating!
- Feeling happy.
- Waving off our guests.
- Collapsing on the sofa.
- Popping a pie in the oven. Because clearly I hadn’t done enough baking already.
- Eating dinner and coaxing the children into the bath.
- Detecting the beginning of a cold in Jesse. Poor thing.
- Sitting down at my laptop and looking through the family photos I took today. An aunt with her niece, cousins sharing a hug. Beautiful.
- Needing a warm bath and an early night.
Love Audrey xxx
