  • Smiling at Jesse’s energetic dance moves.
  • Dishing out smarties.
  • Playing pass-the-parcel.
  • Bringing out the food while the children watched a cartoon in the other room.
  • Passing crisps round, dishing out cupcakes and pouring drinks.
  • Eating too much.
  • Lighting candles and singing happy birthday.

  • Handing over party bags as each child was collected.
  • Helping Jesse unwrap his gifts.
  • Clearing up.
  • Feeling far too tired to cook.
