  • Wishing I wasn’t awake before 7am on a Saturday morning. For one reason or another I haven’t managed a lie in for over a fortnight, so I wasn’t exactly thrilled when Jesse climbed into bed with me just after sunrise.
  • Feeling better after a few cuddles.
  • Eating bacon and eggs for breakfast.
  • Drinking tea and lounging in my PJs for as long as possible.
  • Stealing 15 minutes to myself in the shower.
  • Slipping into skinny jeans, a Breton tee and a pair of ballet pumps.
  • Accessorising with an obnoxious coral coloured necklace and my sunglasses. Finally feels like spring is here.
  • Digging out my favourite denim jacket.
  • Heading into town to visit the Exeter Food Festival. For me, it’s the highlight of the local events calendar. I adore it! We gorged on cheese, devoured posh fish burgers for lunch and sampled every alcoholic beverage going. It was wonderful.
  • Standing beside Kirstie Allsopp to admire a sow and its brood of piglets. She has a house in Devon apparently. Kirstie, not the sow.
  • Resisting the urge to go all ‘Location, Location, Location’ on her and ask if she’d mind looking over the details of the house we’re hoping to buy in Bristol. I was tempted though. Very tempted. Especially after we’d bonded outside the pigsty.
  • Buying some of my favourite cupcakes from Cakeadoodledo. The salted caramel flavour was divine.
  • Wandering home via the supermarket.
  • Catching up on chores.
  • Assembling fajitas for dinner. This has to be one of my favourite meals to eat as a family, especially when there’s fried halloumi in the mix too.
  • Putting the children to bed.
  • Writing.
  • Sipping champagne. We weren’t celebrating or anything, I just happened to have a bottle. Besides, the best reason for bubbly is ‘just because’.
  • Watching episodes of Nurse Jackie with Mr. LA on the sofa.
  • Sleepily smoothing on my new facial oil from Trilogy. It’s love at first application.
  • Being woken up far too early again.
  • Climbing into the bottom bunk in the children’s room while they watched cartoons on my Kindle.
  • Drinking tea and eating toast.
  • Wishing Mr. LA didn’t have to work on a Sunday.
  • Walking Izzy to her drama class.
  • Pottering at home with Jesse.
  • Reading interior design magazines. Although we haven’t even put an offer in on the house we like yet, I’ve already mentally moved us all in and redecorated from top to bottom. I know I’m opening myself up to disappointment if things don’t go to plan, but I can’t help being a daydreamer.
  • Loving Pretty Pastel Style by Selina Lake. Her styling is impeccable and the book is crammed full of gorgeous inspiration.  I’ve already ordered one of her other books too, Homespun Style.
  • Surviving one of Jesse’s tantrums.
  • Collecting Izzy and strolling home in the sunshine.
  • Enjoying the flowers in our front garden. Last year I tossed a Forget-Me-Not Seed Bomb into the flowerbed and this year they seem to be everywhere. I adore them, and the blue looks lovely against the vibrant orange of our tulips.
  • Eating pasta with tuna, sweetcorn and mayo for lunch. It’s not exactly haute cuisine, but sometimes you just have to give the children what they want!
  • Letting Izzy play out in the street with her friends.
  • Leafing through recipe books. I’m definitely ready to switch up my repertoire and start cooking some lighter, more summer appropriate meals.
  • Cuddling Jesse on the sofa.
  • Drinking tea and doing laundry.
  • Tidying the DVD cupboard.
  • Roasting potatoes with garlic and frying bacon for supper.
  • Listening to the children tickle each other while the bath tub was filling.
  • Reading bedtime stories.
  • Longing for Mr. LA’s return.
  • Keeping my fingers firmly crossed ahead of our second viewing at the house in Bristol tomorrow. I wonder if it really is ‘the one’…
