- Waking up in a hurry. A run of house viewings on Saturday meant a mad hour of tidying before bundling everyone out of the house for the day.
- Braving Clarks. Shopping for the children’s shoes is the only kind of shoe shopping I dislike.
- Inwardly cursing Isabel and Jesse’s ability to grow at an alarming rate when they both measured a size up. Fastest way to spend £100 before lunch.
- Easing the pain with lunch at Ruby Diner. This was our first visit to the recently opened restaurant and we were initially very impressed. The menu was simple, but the food was delicious and we loved the diner’s cool layout and design. Service was a little slow, but we hoped it was a one off and booked a table for 12 of us the following day. BIG mistake. Our meal today was tainted by exceptionally poor service and lukewarm food. Such a shame as it has the potential to be a geat eatery, but I abhor bad customer service. Must be the ex-waitress in me.
- Strolling round the shops with Jesse while Izzy and Mr.LA completed some last minute, top secret, Mothers Day shopping.
- Exercising restraint in Waterstones.
- Printing some photos for the first time in ages. I’m determined to do this more often from now on.
- Watching Jesse’s face light up when he was handed a balloon in the street.
- Heading home for a lazy afternoon. I drank tea, read Sense and Sensibility and listened to the children play.
- Enjoying the jug of purple freesias and yellow tulips in the kitchen.
- Cooking and eating harissa salmon with spiced lentils and spinach. Delicious!
- Putting the children to bed.
- Sipping wine, eating chocolate covered pretzels and watching X-Men First Class.
- Climbing into bed.
- Falling asleep in front of old episodes of Family Guy.
- Waking up to chocolates and flowers from the children.
- Relishing smoked salmon eggs benedict for breakfast. My favourite!
- Lounging on the sofa and drinking tea.
- Taking a long, lazy shower.
- Slipping on a favourite dress and a pair of pretty heels.
- Welcoming my family as they arrived. We were joined by my mum and bonus dad, my gran, my aunt Sally, her husband Simon, my cousin Ned and his girlfriend Nicky and my uncle Stephen. Quite the crowd!
- Drinking tea and catching up.
- Watching my mum open her gifts.
- Feeling very grateful for the amazing women in my life.
- Walking to town in the rain.
- Having fun despite the less than stellar dining experience.
- Retreating back to the house for {more} tea and some cake.
- Brimming with pride as Izzy played her violin.
- Laughing a lot.
- Saying goodbye.
- Feeling exhausted.
- Succumbing to the lure of lazy parenting and letting Disney babysit while Mr. LA and I recharged on the sofa.
- Heartily encouraging Jesse’s cross dressing tendencies. He insisted on masquerading as Maleficent to watch Sleeping Beauty.
- Watching Izzy and Jesse devour huge bowls of pasta for their supper.
- Running a bath, wrapping wet children in warm towels and reading bedtime stories.
- Preparing to spend the evening on the sofa in front of Amelie.

Aww, Jesse looks so cute in that costume!
All sounds lovely, as always (apart from the shoe shopping – ouch!)

Ouch indeed! They’re under strict orders not to grow again for at least another 6 months 😉

What a shame about Ruby! I’ve been wanting to try it out ever since it opened, maybe I’ll wait a little bit longer before going. I hate bad customer service too!
As I said, on Saturday the service was a little slow, but the food was great. I wonder if our large party on Sunday was just too much for them? They didn’t seem to have enough staff and our waitress left a lot to be desired. I really wanted to love it as I’m passionate about small, local businesses. And good food!

Such a shame you had a bad experience in Ruby! I went on opening weekend and was impressed by the service, I hope they aren’t slipping for good!
It gets quite a roasting on Trip Advisor, so I don’t think we’re the only punters to have been left dissapointed. Such a shame.

Sounds like a wonderful, restful weekend. The salmon looks delicious and as for the film Amelie, I’ve not watched that since it came out and yet I have it here at home, so have the urge now to dig it out. X
I didn’t make it all the way to the end last night as I was so sleepy, but it really is the most wonderful movie. Makes me want to go back to Paris!

Oh, Paris- so beautiful. I’d love to live there x
