• Wondering why Jesse can sleep way past 7am Mon-Fri, but at the weekend he’s all about the 6am starts.
  • Dozing for an hour with Jesse sprawled across my chest.
  • Dragging myself downstairs, making tea, and watching CBeebies on my laptop with the children.
  • Missing Mr. LA. He’s been working in London since Thursday. Crossing my fingers and toes he makes the 9pm train this evening and crawls into bed with me around 1am.
  • Cooking and eating scrambled eggs on toast.
  • Escaping to the shower.
  • Loving my new knitted necklace jumper from Topshop. So much so in fact, I committed a cardinal fashion sin and wore it two days on the trot.
  • Packing Izzy off to Charlie‘s for a sleepover. I love that our little girls have become such good friends.
  • Spending a lot of time in the bathroom with Jesse. He’s finally in pants and slowly overcoming his fear of the toilet. Really hoping this spells the end of my nappy changing days.
  • Realising my son is probably the only man I’ll ever forgive for talking to his penis. ‘Come on willy, let me wee wee out’.
  • Strolling hand in hand with Jesse in the crisp, autumnal sunshine.
  • Stocking up on milk and bread. And marshmallows. Just the essentials 😉
  • Letting Jesse browse the toys in the Early Learning Centre.
  • Walking home as it began to rain.
  • Drawing the curtains, switching the heating on, lighting candles and huddling under a blanket on the sofa.
  • Making Jesse beans on toast for tea.
  • Cheering a little too loudly when he finally, finally did a wee on the toilet.
  • Reading bed time stories.
  • Sipping wine in the bath.
  • Talking to Mr. LA on the phone.
  • Falling asleep.
  • Being woken up early.
  • Making porridge and tea in a daze.
  • Transforming the children’s bunk beds into a spaceship.
  • Chasing imaginary monsters and eating a make believe picnic with Jesse.
  • Welcoming home a rather sleepy Izzy.
  • Heading to Bill’s for lunch. Izzy and I are a little obsessed with their sharing mezze. Olives, halloumi and the most delicious aubergine dip I’ve ever tasted.
  • Loving Fentimans Ginger Beer, served with a huge slice of fresh ginger, crushed ice and mint.
  • Marvelling at the ice-cream induced silence.
  • Strolling home via Exeter’s new John Lewis department store.
  • Feeling a tiny bit sorry for the young sales assistant that enquired as to whether I needed any help. I assured him I was simply sniffing the Barbour jackets because they smell like my Dad. ‘Perhaps you should get him one for Christmas’ the nice man said. ‘Oh no, he’s dead’ I replied, and he shuffled away quietly.
  • Watching Izzy and Jesse play out in the street with their friends.
  • Preparing the children a lazy supper. Perhaps not nutritionally sound, but fish finger sarnies are good for the soul.
  • Hoping for a better week than last week.

Love Audrey xxx
