• Being woken up by Jesse.
  • Cuddling.
  • Bubbling with excitement. Two of my favourite people came to stay this weekend. I haven’t seen Sarah and her fiance Dom in a very long time, so I’ve been excited about their visit for weeks.
  • Frantically tidying the house. One day I’ll be the type of person who doesn’t need to spend hours panic cleaning every time someone comes to visit. It will probably be around the same time we get a cleaner.
  • Baking Chocolate Olive Oil Cake {another recipe from new cook book obsession Nigellissima}. I served this for dessert on Sunday with mascarpone. I do so love flourless cakes – all dense and damp and delicious.
  • Greeting our guests.
  • Settling down for soup and bagels.
  • Sipping tea and catching up.
  • Heading to the park in the crisp autumnal sunshine.
  • Wishing I could sit on a park bench and chat to my best friend every Saturday.
  • Wandering home.
  • Feeding the children and bundling them off to bed.
  • Listening to Dom read Jesse his bedtime story.
  • Loving how much love our friends have for our children.
  • Getting a little excited at the prospect of using our champagne saucers for the first time. They were a wedding present, and I’ve been itching for an excuse to use them since I ripped open the box back in January. A saucer feels so much more decadent than a flute, I highly recommend.
  • Sipping bubbly.
  • Drinking cosmopolitans.
  • Laughing. A lot.
  • Eating Asian Braised Beef with Hot and Sour Shredded Salad.
  • Switching to wine at some point.
  • Reminiscing.
  • Wishing we all lived closer.
  • Collapsing drunkenly into bed.
  • Vaguely being aware of Jesse clambering in with us while it was still dark.
  • Dozing for another hour and a half.
  • Feeling a *little* delicate.
  • Eating porridge and drinking tea.
  • Lazily getting ready.
  • Preparing a huge Sunday lunch. I made Italian Roast Chicken with Peppers and Olives. Again. You can tell I like a recipe when I cook it two weekends in a row. We all fell upon it as if we’d never been fed.
  • Hating goodbyes.
  • Enjoying a brief visit from my parents.
  • Attempting to fight on through my hangover and get the house back in order for the week ahead.
  • Ordering a kebab to eat while lounging on the sofa in my pyjamas.
  • Snuggling under a blanket with Mr. LA.
  • Watching Breaking Bad.
  • Dragging myself upstairs to bed and falling asleep very quickly.
