Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

‘Struggling writer Paul Varjak moves into a New York apartment building and becomes intrigued by his pretty, quirky neighbor Holly Golightly. Holly’s lifestyle confuses and fascinates Paul; in public she flits through parties with a sexy, sophisticated air, but when they’re alone she changes into a sweetly vulnerable bundle of neuroses.’

This is probably the one that started it all! I remember watching this film at quite a young age and, although it wasn’t the first time I’d seen Hepburn in a movie, it was the one that made me fall completely in love with her. The character Holly Golightly is fantastic and she looks stunning in every scene. I adore her clothes, especially the pink cocktail dress, the way she effortlessly styles her hair, the false eyelashes and pink lippy, the amazing costume jewellery, everything. I certainly spent most of my teen years aspiring to this sort of elegance and sophistication, and truth be told, I still do! This film is also a great advertisement for the power of a fabulous Little Black Dress (LBD) and I’m always on the hunt for the perfect one.
