- Sleeping in.
- Eating modestly at breakfast in preparation for days otherwise filled with overindulgence.
- Enjoying a wander round town.
- Picking up some last minute Easter treats.
- Buying a dress, returning a dress, buying another dress and hoping I don’t have to return it too.
- Filling every jug and vase I own with daffodils.
- Nibbling on tuna and sweetcorn sandwiches.
- Wrapping up warm against the cold and taking a long walk to the quay.
- Feeding the ducks.
- Trailing behind Jesse as he ran and jumped and rolled around in the grass.
- Marvelling at my son’s boundless energy.
- Heading back to the warmth of the house.
- Baking a lime drizzle cake while the children lounged on the sofa.
- Drinking tea and reading Little Women.
- Cooking and eating prawn linguine.
- Putting two very sleepy children to bed.
- Sipping wine and watching Pan’s Labyrinth. Amazing film. Superb.
- Falling into a deep sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
- Trying to get my head round the clocks going forward.
- Walking behind the children as they followed a trail of mini eggs that led to their pile of Easter treats.
- Having chocolate for breakfast. Naturally.
- Enjoying a morning alone in the kitchen. I cooked Italian Roast Chicken with Peppers and Olives, accompanied by Savoy Cabbage with Fennel Seeds and Potatoes and followed with Chocolate Olive Oil Cake and vanilla ice cream {all from Nigellissima}.
- Welcoming my parents with cups of coffee and cake.
- Eating too much.
- Laughing at Jesse as he gazed intently at my Mum’s watch, counting down the seconds until pudding was ready.
- Sneakily hiding eggs while the children hurried off to the park with their Grandparents.
- Loving the children’s joy, wonder and excitement.
- Looking on as they proudly surveyed their bounty in the sunshine.
- Saying goodbye to our visitors.
- Sitting with the children as they devoured fried eggs and baked beans for their supper.
- Overseeing a rigorous session of teeth brushing. So. Much. Chocolate.
- Persuading the children to go to bed despite the daylight.
- Giggling at Jesse as he scolded the sun for forgetting to go to bed.
- Lazily ordering a takeaway.
- Settling down to watch The Help. Oh how I wept! A beautiful, bittersweet tale. I cannot wait to read the book.
- Staying up too late.
- Looking forward to a lazy Monday. Which is has been. Blissfully so, in fact.
Love Audrey xxx
Lovely post Franks, I love The Help, it’s such a wonderful film – I wept too!
Phil and I have also seen Pan’s Labyrinth and consider it a favourite!
I think we need to have our own film fest sometime. I adore watching films, it’s one of my favourite ways to relax and unwind.
I did however do absolutely no cooking this weekend. I leave all that to the husband!! 😉
Hope you had a lovely Easter weekend,
xXx
It certainly does sounds blissful. A perfect Easter weekend. I hope you enjoy the school holidays and I look forward to seeing what you all get up to, and to see which dress you wear to the SMV launch! Happy Tuesday x
Perfect Easter weekend 🙂 I love that it’s the one time of year you can legitimately have chocolate for breakfast!! The clocks have totally thrown me too- getting up in the dark again this morning was RUBBISH! xx
You’re such a good mum. It looks like a lovely weekend was had by all! x
I have so many daffodils in my house, it’s almost ridiculous! I love how charming your Easter looked. And everytime you write about how passionate your daughter is with her books, it totally reminds me of how I was as a kid & how I hope my daughter will be too.
Excellent post, as usual! 🙂
Your food pictures look amazing. I love the Nigelissima book and you’ve inspired me to try making that chicken dish ASAP!
