Truth be told, I’m not a massive fan of cuddly toys for children. Stuffed animals, teddy bears and all those other fluffy creatures irritate me. I mean, they just lie there doing nothing, gathering dust, and taking up valuable space in a home already full to the brim with other, more functional toys.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not completely heartless. I can appreciate that one or two special soft toys are essential for huddling and cuddling at bedtime. It’s just that in my experience children somehow manage to accumulate rather more than a few.

So, given my distaste for such objects, the recent impulse purchase pictured above is wildly out of character. Izzy spied this cute cat while we were browsing local craft emporium Good Golly Miss Molly, and I was immediately taken with its retro Scandinavian design.

A quick google session when we returned home revealed Jane Foster is a designer based nearby in Totnes. The softie that made its way home with us is but one example from a fabulous range of toys, screen prints, quilts and cushions.

I immediately developed a wish list as long as my arm…

Top to bottom: Alphabet Dog Screen Print, Softie Toy Bunny, Screen Printed Retro Apple Cushion, Softie Toy Mini Cat.

Jane’s products are available from both her website and Etsy store. Tempted?
