I’m almost certain that I haven’t worn anything from Laura Ashley since I was about 6 years old. I had a blue and white polka dot dress with little puffed sleeves and a sash that tied in a big bow at the back. It was wheeled out for many a family wedding.
In fact, the first image that comes to mind when I think of this particular brand is my mother circa. 1988 sporting something floral and fairly pouffy. In all honesty, I guess Laura Ashley is, dare I say it, a little middle aged for my liking.
However, I am familiar with their home department and it was during a mission for fabric swatches that I spied this dress.
Now… at first I felt sure that this frock screamed ‘tablecloth’ but then from somewhere in the depths of my mental fashion archive the image of Christopher Kane’s gorgeous gingham dresses was called forth.
So, is this dress on trend? Do I even care? I love the shape (it’s one that always works well on my figure) and I think I could make it my own with the right accessories and some red lippy and it is reduced by 25% until Sunday.
Decisions, decisions.
I’d welcome your input of course. Would you wear it or would you eat a picnic off it?

I’d definitely wear it with maybe a wider belt, some open toe pumps and definitely a red lip! But at the same time it also reminds me of my mum, she loves checkered fabrics of any kind, and we do have similar tableclothes in red and white at home 🙂 Oh well, I like for both of these reasons! xxx
i was unsure at first, but the more i look at them the more i’d wear them. 🙂
