As I mentioned in the preamble to my Great DIY To-Do List, this Christmas we’ll be hosting a bevy of friends and family at our humble abode. While we slowly work towards transforming the attic into a cosy guest bedroom/office space, I’ve been thinking about the various finishing touches that will help make the room feel as welcoming as possible.
My parents’ house in Dorset is one of my favourite places to stay. Aside from the fabulous company and my mum’s cooking, one of the things I love most is how luxurious the bedrooms feel. There’s no fancy furniture and the decor is clean and simple, but the sumptuous bed linen and bath towels are reminiscent of what you’d expect to find in a fancy boutique hotel.
Eager to create a similar experience for my own guests, I accepted a beautiful bundle of Christy Supreme Supima Hygro Towels.
I’ve been reliably informed that supima cotton produces one of the finest cotton yarns in the world, which when combined with Christy’s patented Hygro technology creates a towel that is luxuriously soft, thick, plush and exceptionally absorbent.
Not only is Christy a British heritage brand established in 1850, these towels also carry the COTTON USA international trademark for quality U.S cotton-rich products. In short, they feel incredible to the touch, elevating the usual post-bath time ritual from mundane to magnificent!
While my parents favour white bed linen and bath towels, I’m much too fond of colour {and far too fearful of dirt and grime} to opt for anything so pure and pristine. The Supreme Supima Hygro towels are available in an array of rich shades, but I think Blush pink and Midnight blue perfectly complement the otherwise neutral palette we have planned for the attic.
Once we’ve worked through some of the more major renovations needed upstairs, I’ll be focussing on other little touches that will hopefully make our guests feel like they’re visiting a home away from home.
I plan to put our wi-fi password on display, load the bedside table with books and magazines and leave a stash of deliciously scented toiletries for them to enjoy. What else do you think makes for an enjoyable stay when you’re visiting friends and family?

This is a collaborative post. Read my full disclosure here.
I could do with some new towels. He tend to go for white, although I love the colours that you have chosen.
As for what makes an enjoyable stay? When we get to have a little lie-in while the host prepares breakfast for the children. Always a treat.
That does sound like bliss actually! Great suggestion 🙂
