My wardrobe is in desperate need of an overhaul after months of not having time/money to shop. I feel as if I’ve been wearing the same old outfits in rotation forever, and I really need to get myself out of my skinny jeans/grey top/black ballet pumps rut. However, as the children conveniently decided to grow like weeds over the summer, meaning they now require a heap of new clothes, funds with which to dress myself are despairingly low. This situation was particularly apparent the other day when, having just spent almost £100 on new shoes for both Izzy and Jesse, I found myself sticking my £20 pumps from New Look back together with superglue. Such is a mother’s life.
So you can imagine my joy when I spied some bargains in Next this morning. I have to admit, I don’t often browse the rails of adult clothes in this particular store, opting to make my way straight to the kid’s section on the 3rd floor instead {see, there they go again, spending all my money}. However, after spotting a few bloggers like Jen modelling some interesting items, I decided to take a closer look. If you can get past the overwhelming range of corporate wear and strange blouse/cardi combos {I mean they’re actually sewn together, what’s that about?} then there really are a few great purchases to be made.
Black Blouse {crochet front/sheer back & sleeves} ~ £22
Teal Blouse ~ £24
Navy Jumper ~ £18
The black top looks lovely on. I’m tempted to pick it up in cream too, to wear with some brightly coloured skinnies I’ve got my eye on {teal or burgundy? I can’t decide} and a black blazer.
I could live in blouses like this teal one. I like the boxy shape, perfect with my staple skinnies and flats. It can also be dressed up really easily with the addition of a pair of heels and some statement jewellery.
The navy sweater is incredibly soft and cut really well. I love the grey flecks. This comes in a couple of other colours {charcoal grey and dusky pink I think} and at only £18 I may well have to pick up another one. I’ll probably wear this layered over a grey vest with jeans, tan boots and a heap of silver jewellery. I feel warmer already.
Have you ventured into Next recently? Do you have your sartorial Autumn wish list all figured out yet?

I’ve had my eye on that black top for a while now… keep hesitating as I’m not sure it’ll suit me. Can easily see it on you though x
I’ve most definitely got my autum wish list figured out….it would be a palette of autumnal berry colours with a bit of brown and caramels and beiges thrown in as well as a good dose of monocrome…all a very girly granny/librarian sort of look. However, most of my wishlist is stuff I cannot find in my size…darn it!
I go in Next quite a bit as my mum is a huge fan as is my sister, and I have to say amongst some of the things they do year in, year out that I’m not fond of, they often do some gorgeous things too….I really like finding things from places you’d have never thought they’d have come from! I’ve too spied that jumper, and all the colours are gorgeous….but I get mightily annoyed with next for them having a plus size range, but not having it in stores, when every other specialist range is…also, why is it so limited, I want that jumper dammit! As well as a whole load of other things!!
But great haul, and my sister is the same…lots of purchases for her children, and a walk straight to the back of the shop for the children’s section before even thinking about looking at the adult range! But I make sure she does so I can shop vicariously through her ;p
I love the jumper, so snuggly!
The teal blouse is exactly my cup of tea – I’m keen on jewel shades at the moment. I pop to Next for their shoes – their 42 is a brilliant fit for me and each season they have several gorgeous pairs of ballet flats I lust after!

@Charlie It’s really the kind of top you have to try on {not always easy with two children in tow, I know} as it’s really difficult to get a sense of what it will look like from on the hanger. You should try it 🙂
@I have the same problem at the other end of the spectrum. It’s rare that they have size 6s in my local branch, I got lucky with these. It also annoys me that they don’t do their size 6 trousers in a longer leg length. They clearly assume that all size 6s are short!
It bugs me that the highstreet STILL doesn’t reflect the diversity of bodyshapes among British women. Your Autumn wish list sounds gorgeous though, I hope you manage to find some of it at least.
@Rocaille Indeed, can’t wait to wear it!
@Jem I LOVE jewel tones too, especially teals and purples. Gorgeous! I totally forgot about their shoes, I do shop there for those. As you say, excellent range of ballet flats!

I love the blouse especially… I will be buying a blazer very soon hopefully, and I always think they look fabulous with a blouse underneath…although Colin has just informed me they look frumpy…pah, what does he know?! Hopefully you’ve worn these by now, and looked utterly fabulous 🙂 xxx
