For some unknown reason, after my last trip to the salon my hair was a disaster. It was dry, dull and totally lifeless All of my natural shine vanished and life became one big bad hair day.
I’m not sure if they left the tint on too long or if my hair simply had enough of repeated colouring and the fact I’m a little too reliant on my GHDs. Either way, it was clear that my hair needed a little TLC to restore it to its former glory.
Introducing my 3 hair heroes…
1. Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Strengthening Creme Mask – I have to admit, it has been a very long time since I ventured into the hair care aisles of Boots or Superdrug. Since experimenting with Kerastese and Aveda I’ve become something of a hair care snob, a true believer in the superiority of high end hair care. Out of shear desperation, and for no other reason than I had fond memories of using the well-known serum as a teenager, I picked up a sachet of this. If anything has the power to persuade me that drugstore brands can do wonders for your locks, this is it. I’m very, very impressed with the results. The condition of my hair is infinitely better since including this in my routine once or twice a week. I use the mask in place of my regular conditioner, leaving it on in the shower for as long as I can (usually the time it takes me to wash my body and shave my pins!). My hair is sleeker, easier to style and best of all, shiny, shiny, shiny!! I must warn you though, this stuff is very rich and thick. Avoid your roots at all costs. I somehow managed to get a little in my fringe the first time I used it and I was forced to reach for my trusty can of Batiste before lunch time.
2. Aveda Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair – A minuscule amount of this light cream applied to damp hair is all you need pre-styling to ensure soft, shiny, sleek hair. The added bonus of a heat protector is perfect if, like me, you’re a little too dependent on heat styling methods. Weirdly, I find my thick hair sees to dry quicker since I started using this too, which I’ve been very grateful for this last week. there is nothing worse than leaving the house on a cold, dark morning with damp hair!
3. Lush R & B Hair Moisturiser – I purchased this product a long time ago, mainly because I adore the tropical scent of the product. However, I was disappointed to find that it just doesn’t work on my hair as a finishing cream/serum. It’s almost as if it injects too much moisture and turns my hair super fluffy. When my friend informed me that she had been using hers on wet hair, exclusively on her mega dry ends, I was curious. I’m pleased to report that it works a treat, the ends of my hair are in much better condition and they’re less flyaway too, meaning I’ve been able ease off on the GHDs a little. This has an incredibly thick, buttery texture and a little goes a really, really long way. I can’t see myself running out anytime soon but when I do, I’ll be straight down to Lush for a another pot!
So ladies, what hair care are you loving right now? Do you have to alter your routine a little once the weather gets colder and your locks become ravaged by central heating? I’m very keen to try Khiels Silk Groom after hearing Tali rave about it so much, anyone else a fan?

I’ve been wondering about that Kiehl’s product too, but it’s quite expensive… My hair is such a mess, I’m putting lots of product into the ends to make them less dry, but nothing seems to work so far 🙁 I might just go straight for a chop! xxx
I just want to cut all my hair off at the moment! Well…in all honesty, I’m wishing I hadn’t done just that when I was pregnant 🙁
I read in one of the (many) pregnancy books that you shouldn’t do anything drastic to your hair when pregnant because you’re likely to regret it…I had lovely long hair (well, perhaps not lovely, but long) and had it cut to just below shoulders…now it’s a puffy, frizzy, short mess 🙁
