I’ve been trying to post a pretty picture for you all every Friday night but it just didn’t happen this week.
I had a wonderful, but exhausting, couple of days that culminated in a 5hr drive back from London yesterday evening. The journey should have taken approximately 3hrs but we got stuck in traffic jam after traffic jam. I had been in London with Little Miss LA and she was so, so patient in the back of the car. It was terribly boring for her!
We took the train to Paddington on Thursday morning. My mum and sister met us at the station and we caught the tube to Charring Cross. We wandered down The Strand in the pouring rain before finding our way to the Lyceum Theatre to see The Lion King. It was fabulous! My daughter was enthralled from start to finish and I loved seeing her face light up and hearing her sing along. The opening scene is breathtaking and I don’t think she could believe her little eyes! I’d really recommend it going if you have the chance, especially with kiddlywinks.
We had a quick bite to eat after the performance at Leon restaurant. Healthy fast food… it’s delicious and I really want them to open one near me. In the meantime I have the book which is fabulous. Eventually we braved the unrelenting bad weather and headed back to West London and my mum’s tiny flat.
On Friday we journeyed to South Ken and took my daughter to the V&A, my favourite London museum. There were some brilliant half term activities running and Izzy had a wonderful time. I could have spent hours wandering round all the galleries but we had to get back to the car and make our way home to Devon. As I said at the outset, this took forever. Thankfully, we had some Percy Piglets from M&S to keep us going. I’m sure I’m not the only person addicted to these little beauties!
I’m missing London today.
My daughter did make me chuckle when, while we battled our way through a crowded subway on the underground, she asked ‘why is everyone in such a hurry mummy?’. ‘That’s just the way they do things in London’ I said.
