We have some house guests arriving this evening which means I have spent most of this morning catching up on housework and preparing the food for this evenings meal. I’d love to pretend I look as gorgeous as this pin-up in the process but that would be a blatant lie, wouldn’t it?!
I’m really looking forward to dinner. As one of my guests is a fellow vegetarian I’ve had a huge pot of spicy beans and chunky vegetables bubbling away for most of the morning. The house smells wonderful! I’ll be serving these alongside tortillas, some cheese for a bit of creaminess, loads of fresh chili and lime as well as some steak for the carnivores.
For afterwards I’ve made a Torta Alla Gianduia or, less fancily, Nutella Cake. It contains a whole jar of nutella as well as ground hazelnuts, dark chocolate and rum. The frosting is made from (yet more) dark chocolate and double cream and the top of the cake is dotted with toasted hazelnuts. I cannot wait to drizzle a slice with some cream and tuck in. I’m practically salivating at the thought.
I’m hoping the evening will be wonderfully relaxed with lots of wine, yummy food and great conversation.
How about you? What glamorous plans do you have for this evening or the rest of the weekend?

Oh my, this cake sounds so amazing! You must be a great cook! xxx
Oh I don’t know if I’m great but I can follow a recipe and I enjoy cooking! There isn’t any cake left now so it can’t have been a total disaster!
