I’m in the mood for a touch of Grace Kelly this week. She’s so fabulous it hurts…. *sigh*
I was working this afternoon and unfortunately I’ve had a permanent headache for the last 24hrs that no amount of painkillers can seem to shift. Therefore, relaxation is the main priority this evening. Mr. LA is spoiling me with a yummy dinner from M&S and a bottle of wine. I think we’re gonna watch a cheerful French movie about female intelligence agents in WW2. I just hope I’ve got the energy for the subtitles!
Tomorrow we’ll be spending some time with my lovely mum as she celebrated her birthday on Thursday. I have an enormous gift of Lush goodies for her. My mum loves her soap!
If the weather holds up we’ll be enjoying a picnic at Killerton House, a local National trust property. I’m desperate to see their ‘Elegance’ exhibition which showcases their vast collection of vintage clothing and examines how the conception of elegance has changed throughout history. I’m hoping their will be lots of beautiful dresses for me to drool over!
I’d love to know what elegance means to you ladies? Which women, past or present, do you think of as elegant? Oh, and any glamorous plans for the weekend?

Glamorous plans, ha! We’ll be picnicking on the moon, possibly with alien gatecrashers (explanation on my blog!)… Grace Kelly is definitely elegant but I do still prefer Audrey because she also had a cuteness about her… Have a fun weekend and I hope your headache goes away quickly!
To me, Audrey is one of the woman who truly embodies grace, glamour and elegance, as does Grace Kelly. I think the concept of elegance has changed with the times, but the bare bones remain the same – an elegant woman is someone who conducts herself properly, is incredibly caring and gracious, and does not think too much of herself…to be called elegant is a huge compliment in my book…I think I’m far too clumsy and silly to be elegant! But you bake in polka dot shoes…you MUST be elegant 🙂

@Cafe Bellini Your plans can’t sound crazy to someone who regularly builds a sapce ship under her dining room table while wearing a saucepan on her head and wellington boots all in the name of entertaining the children!! We regularly picnic on the moon so maybe we’ll bump into you sometime! Of course I agree about Audrey. Elegance personified!
@Laura I def think to be called elegant is a huge compliment. I’m not sure I’d apply the term to myself though! I suppose I can think of times when I’ve felt elegant but on the whole I probably feel too awkward and self-concious. It’s def something I aspire to though. I think it has a lot to do with how you carry yourself doesn’t it? Almost like a state of mind more than what you wear or the things that you do?
