Ladies, I need your help.
I bought a new frock yesterday with the intention of wearing it to a wedding Mr. LA and I will be attending (sans children) at the beginning of June.
The dress is from Coast. I spied it online last week but knew that at almost £100 I’d have to really love it. The God of shopping must have been watching over me yesterday as, not only does the dress come in a size 6 (which not all of Coast’s clothing does) I also discovered that students get 20% discount in-store which brought the cost down to a much more manageable £76. Fate, perhaps.
Marlena Feather Dress
Pretty, no?
You can’t quite tell from this picture but the dress has a very fine gold thread running though it which looks beautiful when it catches the light. I will more than likely wear it with the straps that come with it, my post-breastfeeding bosom isn’t quite up to going strapless.
My dilemma is that now I have this pretty frock hanging in my wardrobe my mind has gone blank. I simply cannot picture the accessories and I don’t want to head out to the shops completely blind, I need a few ideas to guide my shopping.
So, how would you wear it ladies? What shoes? What jewellery? The wedding is in a church but the reception is fairly relaxed, (hopefully) taking place mostly outside with a hog roast and ten-pin bowling!

If it has a fine gold thread running through it, I think gold accessories would look fantastic. A chunky gold bangle, gold earrings, whatever is your taste. The shoes could pick up any colour in the dress: blue, red, or green. It’s a fab dress – well done! 🙂
I think something like a pale blue beaded necklace would look lovely with this, or even one of those really long thin gold chains that you can layer? I’d go for bright red shoes or black xx
I would pick out the gold thread in the dress with gold jewellery, a delicate gold chain and some pretty earrings, with some gold bangles and perhaps some coloured ones thrown in to pick out the colours of the dress?
I either go really simple with the jewellery or go big and bold funky accessories, but definitely pick out the gold I’d say 🙂
Shoes wise, do you have any already you’re considering?
Love the dress, it’s beautiful 🙂 You’ll look fab *ponders over the dilemma of what to wear to a special winter wedding* xxx
Thank you so much for all the suggestions. I think I will raid Accessorize at the weekend and try on a selction of things. I love the idea of gold accessories.
@Laura Hehe! My friend Kate was saying the same thing only today. I can’t wait to see evryone in their glad rags! 🙂

I would go for gold accessories as well, some delicate necklace and earrings/ or a bracelet, plus maybe tan sandals with golden hardware? The dress is to die for! x
It’s very pretty!
I think you have to go with something quite simple, since you would want the dress to be the main focus, with all the bright colours. 🙂
@Rocaille Yes, I had thought that tan shoes might work. I have one pair but I don’t think the heel is quite high enough (you need height or proper flats with a dress like this no?, nothing in between will do). I will have to have a hunt for something suitable!
@River Glad you like it! I think you’re right, the fabric is so pretty you wouldn’t want to detract from it.
