Devon was bathed in glorious sunshine today. I donned a pair of sunnies and even bared my milky white ankles in a pair of cropped black skinnies. It felt amazing.

That said, I really haven’t got my head round the fact that summer is just around the corner. Slowly, of course, but on its way nonetheless.

I desperately need to give my much neglected body an overhaul and prepare it for the obligatory flesh baring that warmer weather entails. I’ll be dusting off my body brush tomorrow morning and booking myself a pedicure as soon as funds allow (there was the small matter of the Choos this month).

As we don’t have a holiday abroad planned for this summer (because, instead of relaxing on some exotic beach this July, I’ll be slaving away over my MA dissertation, oh joy) I don’t really have to worry about being bikini ready (phew). I do, however, have a number of important events to attend over the coming months… a wedding in June, my ‘it’s not a hen party’ party and a couple of birthdays, to name but a few. Which means I need to be frock ready, at the very least.

If you’ve read my blog for any length of time you’ll have no doubt established that I have a rather serious weakness for dresses. According to some I own far, far too may (although I dismiss the view that such a thing can exist).

Of course, this hasn’t stopped me lusting over some of the gorgeous frocks that have begun to proliferate on the high street. A nipped in waist, full skirt and a reverential nod to the 1950s is easily my favourite shape to wear and luckily for me (unluckily for my bank account) there’s plenty to choose from at the moment…

Monsoon’s Rosie Dress would be perfect for the laid back wedding I have to attend in June. I’d throw a cardigan over it and team it with wedges and a tan. It would be equally gorgeous worn for running around uni if paired with some cute flats and a bag full of books. I tried this one on earlier today and, like all Monsoon size 8s, it’s a stitch too big for me. Need a second opinion as to whether it’s worth forking out for alterations on top of the hefty £85 price tag.

The Meadow Dress is cute too. Anything that demands I wear red shoes is a wardrobe essential in my opinion.I love the Archive range from Laura Ashley and this Blue Posy Print Cotton Dress is terribly Audrey, don’t you think? What can I say, I’m a sucker for florals! Now, this is the dress I can’t get out of my head. The Reiss Peacock Dress is a slightly more contemporary take on the full-skirted shape that I so adore but my, isn’t it fabulous! I haven’t dared try it on yet, Reiss clothing is so well made and tends to fit me so perfectly that it would be lethal. I’ll let you know how I get on resisting this beauty!

Here’s one of my favourite sources of frock-spiration, Louis Vuitton F/W 2010/2011…

Are you a dress fan? Do you go super girly, floral and fifties like me or do you prefer more contemporary styles? Which is you favourite of these 4 frocks?
