- Sleeping in.
- Sipping tea and listening to the rain fall on the roof over the children’s playroom.
- Eating scrambled eggs on hot buttery toast.
- Having a lazy morning.
- Spending more money than I’d like on groceries.
- Secretly quite enjoying beans on toast for lunch. Not the most gourmet of meals, but perfect for a rainy Saturday lunchtime.
- Taking Izzy to a pool party. The child really does have a better social life than me.
- Finally sorting though the mountain of food magazines I had accumulated. I tore out all the interesting recipes and dumped the leftovers in the recycling. It cleared a huge space on my kitchen shelves, which probably means I should buy more cookery books 😉
- Making fajitas for dinner.
- Finally getting the children to sleep.
- Drinking wine and catching up on my favourite blogs. I had around three weeks worth of posts to read after our holiday and a busy week back at work. I lost myself in Florence Finds, The Start-up Wife, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Homebird and The Quince Tree.
- Painting my nails with OPI Strawberry Margarita, a gorgeous hot pink that looks great with what’s left of my tan. Chipped already though *sigh*.
- Sleeping soundly.
- Waking up to blue skies and sunshine.
- Feeling excited at the prospect of watching Izzy in her end of term drama performance. She had a solo and everything! I teared up a little when she came on as a munchkin from The Wizard of Oz, singing loudly and clearly all by herself. The audience gave her her very own round of applause too.
- Feeling very proud. Not just because Izzy was good, but because she was obviously enjoying herself. That’s what it’s all about really, this Motherhood thing, making sure they’re as happy as possible.
- Rushing lunch so we could deliver Izzy to another party. SEE, I told you, better social life than me.
- Making Chocolate and Peanut Butter Pie from a recipe in The Hummingbird Bakery Cake Days. I left it chilling in the fridge ready for supper time. It was heavenly. In fact I’m eating my second slice as I type.
- Working on a post for Love My Dress while Jesse napped.
- Taking a stroll to the park in the sunshine.
- Wearing stripes, turn-ups and ballet pumps. It’s kind of my everyday uniform when I’m not in a dress.
- Loving my Accessorize sale purchase. I’ve had my eye on this nautical straw basket bag for a while so I snapped it up as soon as I saw it had been reduced to £17.50. I do love a stylish bargain.
- Cooking and eating Beer Butt Chicken which is, as the picture above illustrates, a recipe that involves sticking a can of Bud up a chicken’s bottom. The children found it most amusing, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mr.LA clear his plate so quickly.
- Having a nightmare time trying to put the children to bed. Jesse has mastered the art of climbing out of his cot and managed to keep Izzy awake until gone 9pm. We currently have one child asleep in our bed and the other asleep in his sister’s bed. This goes some way towards explaining why another slice of that pie was essential.
- Finally switching off and sitting down to write this blog post. I missed this place, and all of you while I was away, I really did.

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful honeymoon! I’m a bit jealous -my “honeymoon” was me being very pregnant & on bedrest. In fact, my wedding night included zombie movies and Papa John’s Pizza!
Your pictures above are great! I like that you wear ballet flats -something that seems like it shouldn’t be a big deal, but to a Mama who lives in Converse, that’s “getting dressed up”.
And I love OPI, but hate how it chips. The Strawberry Margarita color is one of my favorites & every time I use it, it lasts about 24 hours. Must be a perk of motherhood. At the moment I’m wearing Butter London’s “Knackered”. 🙂
Welcome back. That pie looks delicious, as does the chicken. A big well done to Izzy on her solo performance!x
what lovely new blogs to look at !!!!! thanks xxx
I don’t know how you do it, but even your little struggles sound absolutely glamorous 🙂
I’ve just had a lovely, long read of your blog and it was like catching up with an old friend! 😀
I particularly enjoyed your post on Jesse’s birth! I’m even tempted to click on the link that you describe as having the more “gory” details. (Maybe not while I’m eating my lunch though?!)
Talking of food, the chocolate and peanut butter pie sounds right up my street. (Bookmarked recipe)! 😀 xx
oh wow, the chicken looks very…. mouth-watering…. *hunger*
Ah, what a lovely first week back. I hate it when it a lovely polish chips way to quickly before you can really show it off. And, I have that exact recipe book for my handwritten, printed and ripped-out recipes. Glad you’re back xx
