- Stringing a bundle of balloons and streamers to the tree outside.
- Finishing with 30 minutes to spare.
- Feeling certain that I must have forgotten to do something.
- Greeting Jesse’s guests.
- Watching the children play.
- Overseeing a game of musical statues.
- Smiling at Jesse’s energetic dance moves.
- Dishing out smarties.
- Playing pass-the-parcel.
- Bringing out the food while the children watched a cartoon in the other room.
- Passing crisps round, dishing out cupcakes and pouring drinks.
- Eating too much.
- Lighting candles and singing happy birthday.
- Cutting the cake.
- Handing over party bags as each child was collected.
- Helping Jesse unwrap his gifts.
- Clearing up.
- Feeling far too tired to cook.
- Persuading Mr. LA to get a takeaway.
- Putting two very sleepy children to bed.
- Drinking wine and eating Chinese food.
- Laughing a lot.
- Collapsing into bed just after midnight.
- Waking up to cuddles from Jesse.
- Wishing Mr. LA a happy Father’s Day.
- Letting the children watch cartoons on Youtube while we dozed.
- Heading downstairs for tea and toast.
- Looking on as Izzy presented Mr. LA with his card and gift.

- Loathing the damp, grey weather.
- Sending Izzy off to her drama class.

- Knowing the day had been a great success when both children drifted off to sleep on the drive home.

- Inhaling the comforting scent emanating from the kitchen.
- Greedily devouring a huge plate of food.
