Last night I sampled the newest addition to Lush’s fresh face mask range, Oatifix.

For those of you that don’t know, the fresh face masks contain no synthetic preservatives, just lots of yummy fresh ingredients such as fruit and vegetables, honey, eggs and yogurt. They have to be kept refrigerated and last approx 3 weeks from the date they’re made in the Lush factory. The instore display of the masks is quite unusual… it has always reminded me of a fish counter in a deli! The masks are kept on ice with large silver bowls of the product so you can have a good sniff and see what the consistency and texture is like. All the masks are priced at £4.84 for 75g and I usually manage about 4-5 applications from one tub, depending on how thickly I apply it.

Up until now my favourites have always been Love Lettuce (for its skin balancing properties, lovely scrubbiness and lavender scent) and Cosmetic Warrior (which smells grim but works wonders on a break out, reducing swelling and redness while preventing any further spots from forming). But now I’ve tried Oatifix I think I’m in love!!

I really love the smell, makes me think of breakfast, and it feels lovely and creamy when you apply it. This has the perfect combination of softening and moisturising ingredients, such as oats, bananas and vanilla, and deep cleansing kaolin. This means you’re skin is left feeling really clean and very soft. The oats also give a very mild scrub which has given my skin a lovely glow. I found that my foundation applied really well this morning as I didn’t have any of my usual dry patches and the tiny spots I had on my forehead and chin have almost completely disappeared.

The great thing about the lack of chemicals and overall gentleness of these masks is that you can use them quite often. For example, when I have a breakout I use Cosmetic Warrior every other day to clear it up. This means I don’t have to wait long to get my next fix of Oatifix!!
