Apologies for the lack of posts over the last week. My boyfriend has been away at a festival, leaving me completely responsible for the children!! I am more tired than I thought humanly possible and cannot wait for his return tomorrow evening. I escaped to my mum’s house for the weekend and she did a fantastic job of looking after me. We had a delicious roast dinner on Saturday and a wonderful time at the beach this morning. My crazy daughter was straight in the water despite the fact that it wasn’t that sunny. She’s already tucked up in bed asleep. The sea air and running around like a lunatic seems to have tired her out.

Anyway… here are a few of my favourite things from the last month:

  • Chanel ‘Mystic Eyes’ Quad – I used this for the first time in ages the other day and remembered how much I love it. It’s perfect for creating a beautiful neutral eye but the shades have enough shimmer to make it interesting. It is by far the most pigmented of the three Chanel quads I own and applies like a dream.
  • My lipstick/gloss collection – Operation Lipstick Loving has made me realise how much I have been neglecting my collection, buying products and immediately forgetting about them after one application. I’ve really enjoyed trying to wear something different everyday and it’s made me thinks about which shades/brands I should really be buying. Experimenting with what I’m wearing on my lips has also filled the void left by not having time to apply interesting eye-shadow (eye-shadow being my first love and probably my biggest make-up obsession).
  • My son’s first smiles – Too cute for words and make me forgive the overwhelming sleep deprivation instantly.
  • Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher – My skin has been feeling incredibly dehydrated recently, not just dry but positively parched. I was given a few samples of this product by the EL sales assistant in Boots recently and I have to say I’m impressed. Each sachet (and I had three) contained enough serum for four applications. My skin does feel a lot smoother and it creates a fantastic base for make-up (so much so that I dispensed with my usual primer). I’m not certain it has reduced the size of my pores but I’m pleased with how it has improved the overall texture of my skin. It’s certainly not feeling as dehydrated as it has been and I’m very tempted to purchase a full size bottle.
  • Surviving – Caring for a newborn is tough. The same goes for studying for finals. I’m doing both… at the same time. But, I’m coping and trying to stay confident.
