The sun actually made an appearance down here in Devon today. There is no denying that I’m lucky enough to live in a really beautiful part of Great Britain. Our home is in Exeter, a city with some amazing architecture and lots of lush, green open spaces. It’s surrounded by stunning countryside and we’re only about 20 minutes away from the beach, which is still something of a novelty to a girl who spent her whole childhood in the big smoke! Nonetheless, as I wandered in the sunshine this afternoon I found myself longing for my hometown. London in the summertime is something else entirely and, truth be told, I really miss it. It may not be as picturesque as Devon but what it lacks in aesthetics it more than makes up for in atmosphere. My homesickness got so severe today that I even found myself longing for a sweltering journey on an overcrowded yet under-ventilated tube. Yes, I even miss the Underground.

I’m beginning to think that a couple of topical fashion and beauty purchases may provide the perfect antidote for my current state. I’m seriously lusting after Cath Kidston’s London charm bracelet and Chanel’s London Madness collection.
I swatched the gorgeous red lippy ‘Enthusiast’ in Debenhams earlier today and it was instant love. The cool shimmery union jack is clearly a joy to behold but didn’t seem particularly wearable to me, a bit too sparkly for my taste. I’m completely smitten with the teeny-tiny big red bus and millennium wheel charms. Maybe wearing a little bit of London will ease the pain!!
