I have been so excited about this collection! I kept wandering past the Chanel counter in my local Debenhams because I really didn’t want to miss out on swatching everything as soon as it was released! In the end I purchased the Murano quad and Gondola nail polish. I adore Chanel eye-shadow quads (this is my fourth). However, the quads are not all created equal… I’ve found some to be lacking in the pigment department. For me though, this one doesn’t disappoint. The shadows are lovely and smooth, fairly well pigmented and apply beautifully. Although they appear quite green in the pan these are most certainly grey shadows once applied, albeit with green undertones. They do apply quite sheer but can be built up nicely for something a little more dramatic. I love that I can create a nice, neutral look with this palette or use the darker, sparkly shade for evening. It will make a nice change from brown/gold neutral looks and I know I’ll use this loads. I’ve read some other reviews that have complained about the shadows fading but having worn this yesterday over UDPP I have to say that I haven’t found that to be the case. Swatches…
Gondola is a beautiful shade and perfect for Autumn. It’s a gorgeous plum with stunning red shimmer and I’ve been wearing it on fingers and toes all week. Two coats were enough and I’m impressed with how well it has lasted. I’ve had some bad experiences with Chanel polish in the past but I’m impressed with this one.
The girl on the Chanel counter showed me some of the imagery from the next collection and I’m quite excited. ‘Chanel Noirs Obscurs’ seems quite similar to the all black collection coming soon from MAC and contains some incredibly vampy lipsticks and nail polishes. I’m particularly keen to see Diabolic in the flesh.
