I’ve found myself daydreaming about a few interior design projects recently.
We own a very old 2 bedroom house. We fell in love with it almost as soon as we walked in the front door. It sounds cliched but it really does have a certain charm about it… it’s own atmosphere. I love the thought that lots and lots of families have lived here over the years and that Jesse certainly wasn’t the first baby to be born in it!
We haven’t done any decorating since we finished the master bedroom way back in the early stages of my pregnancy. Our home is very much ‘a work in progress’ and I’m itching to make a start on, or put the finishing touches to, a few other areas.
Here are a few things that are being added to my never ending wish list…
A new hallway! The entrance to our home has a lot of potential. It’s a very narrow hall and at the moment it looks terribly dingy due to a grubby carpet on the stairs (inherited from the previous owners) and dirty white walls (white paint + small children = bad idea). That said, people are still impressed when they walk in as the house has retained so many of it’s original features. People always comment on the beautiful hardwood floors and I also really like the fact that all the dado and picture rails are in tact. We also have the original staircase and, despite the fact I’m terrified the rickety banister will come crashing down one day, it does look lovely. I’m desperate to re-carpet, repaint, update the lighting and hang some stunning prints and family portraits on the walls.
I need this print in my kitchen. It would make me smile.
I’m on a mission to find a funky cake stand. Something like this one perhaps… or maybe a Nigella one?
I would also like some new oven to tableware (maybe blue Le Cruset to match my casserole), some framed black and white prints for the bathroom (I’m thinking Marilyn Monroe in the tub), new place mats and some kind of storage to house my huge collection of magazines (because Jesse has taken to chewing my Vogues. Dribble and high fashion do not mix).
So not much then!
