Top Row L-R Nouvelle Vague, Orange Fizz, Lilac Sky and, my favourite, TrapezeBottom Row L-R Particuliere, Vendetta, Fantastic, Gondola and Diabolic
That’s right, I managed to get my manicured hands on a bottle of Chanel’s newest-soon-to-be-cult shade, Nouvelle Vague.
And I’m in love with it. I want to have nail polish babies with it.

I know you’ll excuse the stubby nails and ragged cuticles. Oh, and for an infinitely better swatch head over to All Lacquered Up
There are about a million ways I could describe this colour to you. In fact, I’m sure the Chanel lady did describe it as a blue, a green and a turquoise during my time with her at the counter.
When I saw Vague in the bottle the first thing it said to me was ‘Tiffany Blue’ and it was this that reeled me in. I adore the vintage feel of the shade but upon application it’s a little brighter than I expected, not really a pastel at all. It’s like Tiffanys got a little funkier and I love it! When the polish catches the light, and if you look very closely, it does have a very fine shimmer to it which I adore. It’s a really beautiful summery shade that i think will look fabulous on both fingers and toes.
Of course there are other Tiffany-esque shades out there that won’t set you back £16.50. I’d be interested to see a comparison swatch with China Glaze’s ‘For Audrey’ because I’m sure that this would confirm that Vague is more of a true turquoise. I do have the budget Collection 2000 shade ‘Button Moon’ (which is often described as a dupe for the China Glaze shade) but it doesn’t even come close to my eye. Button Moon is much more washed out and lacks the dimension of the Chanel polish.
I can’t really comment on the staying power of this polish as I’ve only been wearing it for 24 hrs but it applied like a dream. You could probably get away with one coat if you’re in a hurry but I did apply 2 here.
I personally love Chanel polishes and can only fault the formulation of one of the shades I own (Orange Fizz, if you’re interested, which was a LE shade last summer). They’re certainly an indulgence but I always have a little spring in my step when I walk away from the Chanel counter having made a purchase!
Anyone planning on hunting this shade down? It’s already popping up on Ebay if you’re desperate! Or are there any particular shades that you think my Chanel polish collection is missing?

This looks beautiful, I love colours like this, and you’re spot on, they are perfect for summer 🙂 I normally prefer pinks, reds and purples on the toes, but with a bit of a tan (not that I ever really have one!) colours like this look beautiful 🙂 xxx
I also normally go for those sorts of colours on my tootsies but shades like this have been calling to me recently. When I gave birth to Jesse I was wearing a really bright neon pink from Nails Inc. You absolutely must give your labour pedicure some thought!! This colour could be perfect!

not a “Vamp” fan? I woulda thought that was a classic shade, although perhaps it is not the same for all skin tones?
As for NV: I love this shade, not just in the bottle but in real life. I have a tattoo actually in a similar color, I wanted something half my friends would see as blue and the other half as green. Those kinds of colors sorta immediately make me channel my inner mermaid.
@Melina You’re right I need Vamp or Rouge Noir in my life… although Diabolic is from the same family really, but different enough to justify another purchase!!
Your tattoo sounds fabulous! Inner mermaid… I love it!! NV is so pretty, really glad I managed to get hold of it.

thank you for posting an ebay link to this nail polish!! i’ve been in dire need of a pretty mint green (it seems like all the ones i buy lately are too blue or too yellow). i LOVE this color!!
I think I’m going to have to start going for pedicures, because I can no longer comfortable reach my feet and paint my toes prettily 🙁 It’s currently making me very sad and twitchy to look down and see ungroomed toes 🙁 Unfortunately for me, my sister and Colin have foot phobias!!! xxx
