• Waking up early.
  • Baking cheese stars and mini banana muffins.
  • Madly tidying the house.
  • Wrapping presents.
  • Icing cupcakes.
  • Running out of icing half way through and having to dash to Spar for extra butter and icing sugar.
  • Icing more cupcakes.
  • Eating Thai food.
  • Laughing at how much Izzy loves green curry. She slurps the sauce with a spoon like it’s soup!
  • Feeling too tired to give myself a manicure.
  • Collapsing into bed.
  • Waking up to Jesse’s huge grin and cute baby gurgles. I love being a mum.
  • Sleepily singing happy birthday.
  • Keeping up a long running family tradition by playing Altered Images as Jesse came down to open his presents.
  • Putting up decorations and getting the bubble machine going in the garden.
  • Thinking about what I was doing this time last year.
  • Hurriedly getting dressed and doing my make-up.
  • Loving Revlon Cherries In The Snow lipstick, new shoes and seamed stockings.
  • Hugging old friends.
  • Showing off the children.
  • Eating party food.
  • Singing ‘Happy Birthday’ and helping Jesse blow out his candles.
  • Posing for a million photographs.
  • Laughing out loud at the sight of Jesse demolishing a cupcake.
  • Opening birthday presents with Jesse.
  • Wondering what our friends were thinking when they bought us a pop-up ball pond complete with 250 balls. The kids adore it but it takes up most of the playroom. That said it did play a part in my favourite photo from the whole day…
  • Wishing my best friend didn’t have to go back to London.
  • Embarking on a major clean-up session.
  • Pouring myself a glass of wine and ordering pizza.
  • Collapsing on the sofa.
