OK, I didn’t actually notice the stray brush hair on my cheek until after I’d uploaded these pics! And the flash has made my forehead look super shiny when it wasn’t, I was freshly powdered!Oh, and as per usual my fringe looks dodgy as hell.
I’d venture that my brain has already begun to make the mental shift over to autumn/winter as I’ve spent most of this week reaching for deeper shades of eye shadow and lippy and really packing on the eye-liner.
I’m currently loving my new Prestige Total Intensity Eye Liner in Fierce Blue. It’s a stunning blackened-blue with a slight metallic sheen to it. This liner makes it easy to create a slightly smudgy look but can also be applied very precisely, it’s not so soft that you make a heap of mess. It’s incredibly long-wearing. I hardly had to touch up my waterline today, it wore off only slightly at the outer corner of each eye. I’m hooked on pairing this with one of my favourite MAC e/s shades, Deep Truth, so much so that I’ve worn this look two days in a row. The girls at work were very complimentary about my make-up today so I must be doing something right!

No. 7 Dual Protection Tinted Moisturiser in fair
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-place concealer in 01 Light
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer
MAC MSF Natural in Light Medium
NARS Orgasm blush
(I’m actually looking to switch up my base at the moment, I’m ready for something a little more matte. I love my Chanel ProLumiere but even that seems a little too glowy. Any suggestions, baring in mind my skin can be a little on the oily side?)

MAC All That Glitters e/s on the lid, inner corner and smudged on to the inner 1/3 of the lower lash line.
MAC Deep Truth e/s in the crease and smudged onto the outer 2/3 of the lower lash line (over the liner)
Revlon Matte e/s 007 Riviera Blue in the crease (gorgeous, gorgeous matte shade that reminds me of NARS China Blue)
MAC Shroom to highlight.
Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliner LWL-04 Fierce Blue on the lower waterline and smudged on to the outer corner of the upper lash line.
Max Factor Masterpiece mascara

I just can’t get enough of these colours around this time of year. Ladies, have you made the transition into a/w yet? What colours are you reaching for right now?

Love this look on you. Revlon Colorstay is amazing as a matte base- maybe try that? I can’t rave about it enough.
P.S I’m just catching up with your blog after a week and a half as I finally gave birth to my son Finn last Tuesday- in a harrowing emergency unplanned homebirth involving 2 paramedic teams and a siren-run to hospital and when he’d finally popped out after FOUR HOURS OF PUSHING in our bedroom. But anyway, he’s here and he’s adorable. I think I remember you and I spoke before about coping mentally with pregnancy etc depression-wise (unless in my sleep-deprived haze I have hallucinated it, which is entirely possible) and I’m not doing well on that front, to say the least. I love Finn to bits but I’m hoping I feel stronger soon.
Anyway, just thought I’d update you on the pesky one’s arrival as I’d mentioned the pregnancy a few times while commenting.
x
@Anonymous Girl Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me know your little one has arrived. I had been wondering if that might have been the case as you’d gone a little quiet on the comment front.
Congratulations! I’m so sad to hear your birth was traumatic. You’re not hallucinating, I had a very tough time mentally after Izzy’s birth, very severe post-natal depression. You’ve also got the issue of a difficult birth to come to terms with on top of everything else.
I would say that at just over a week in, your hormones will still be going crazy (I expect your milk has only just come in?) and you’re probably experiencing classic ‘baby blues’. This should pass but if it doesn’t then talk to someone, anyone, who will listen. This is where I went wrong, I suffered for a long time until I reached breaking point. I was contemplating suicide at the point the mental health team finally stepped in. Thank god I broke down at a routine GP appt! If you ever want to talk to someone who knows what it’s like then just say, I wouldn’t mind exchanging email addresses.
In more general terms, it does get easier, honestly! Once your body starts to recover and you begin to make the mental transition into motherhood (so much of the hard stuff is about acceptance I reckon, accepting the changes) things just fall into place. I promise!
Anyway, I’m waffling! Welcome to the world Finn!

Thanks for your thoughts on it all- I’m holding it together a lot better this week than I was til the early hours of Monday when we had paramedics back here to help with my shock symptoms. One of them held my hand and said that I will be a good mum and that I must stop beating myself up- I just hugged him and bawled my eyes out.
My milk has come and gone pretty much- sadly I was so weak after the awful birth that I couldn’t even hold Finn to bf him properly.
I would hugely appreciate chatting to you by email- my address is [email protected], so if you can send me one to that address I can chat to you and maybe glean some knowledge from you.
Thanks again, it would be good to talk to someone who knows what I’m going through.
P.S Finn says hi! x
Franky, you look stunning, as ever (your fringe doesn’t look dodgy!), love this look 🙂 I really like the Bourjois Healthy Mix, it’s fine on my oily skin, more matte of a finish, long wearing, and it’s cheap and easily available!
@ Anonymous Girl: Congratulations on the birth of your son Finn, welcome to the world little man! I hope you’re OK sweetie…I had somewhat of a traumatic (and long) birth too, and was quite ill afterwards, so I agree with Franky, you’re certainly just experiencing what most new Mums do, and it’s fine that you feel that way – if it gets worse, or continues for a long time, as Franky said, seek help, and don’t suffer in silence. I’d be more than happy to email you too, my email address is on my blog.
My baby is 1 month old today, so hopefully I can offer a bit of perspective…it does get easier, but no day is the same or easy! xxx
beautiful make-up and pictures! you’re inspiring me to change up my ‘go-to’ makeup a little bit for the change in seasons, i think i need a good new autumn lip colour to help me into the new season!
Laura- thanks honey. I will defo take you up on your offer and email you. xx
Franky, Laura, Anonymous Girl, I think you just made my day. I don’t have children yet so I can’t offer my perspective here, but the fact how helpful and understanding you all are towards each other is just too sweet for words. I wish you (and I) will still be here at the time when I’ll be giving birth in some distant future! You rock, girls. xxx
PS. Oh, and Franky, you look stunning. I have Deep Truth and the Prestige liner in navy blue, I think I shall try to recreate your look 🙂 x
This is such a beautiful look! I’m considered getting Deep Truth many times but faltered. I might just crack after seeing this!

You look absolutely gorgeous! By the way, I love Prestige liners. I’ve recently discovered Prestige and have beecome a big fan! xx
@Laura I’ll have to check out the Bourjois foundation, it sounds great. You’re so right about no two days being the same, even when things have gotten easier once the newborn stage has past, that statment still rings true. Kids def keep you on your toes, routine or no routine!
@A Certain Vintage I’m glad you like it, I love the changing of the seasons and how they fill me with new inspiration.
@Rocaille Ooooooohhh I can’t wait for you to have a baby sweetie!! I’ll def be here to talk to when you do, us mummys have to look after eachother.
This e/s combo would look lovey on you, you must try it out!
@Modesty Brown Deep Truth is AMAAAAAZING! I wear it loads at this time of year, it’s so vibrant and pretty. You really should buy it 😉
@The BBB This is the first Prestige product I’ve tried and I have to admit I’m impressed. Will be checking out the rest of the line for sure.
