- Loving the warm fuzzy feeling that I get inside when ever I go back London.
- Sharing a scrummy breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with my Godmother, Mum and baby sister.
- Catching the tube to Oxford Circus.
- Feeling very relieved that bridesmaid dress I picked out for my sister actually fits her.
- Trying on wedding dresses in Monsoon and being dreadfully swamped by them all (even the size 8).
- Thinking that the chances of me finding a dress that fits ‘off the peg’ or on the high street are minimal.
- Wandering round the womans wear section of John Lewis on the off-chance that they stock a dress I spied ages ago online.
- Spotting said dress, loving it but resigning myself to the fact that it probably won’t fit.
- Waiting patiently as my sister helped me into the frock. As she pulled the zipper closed I could instantly feel that the dress fitted me perfectly, it was as if it was made for me, the fabric hugs the contours of my body perfectly.
- Loving the reflection staring back at me from the mirror.
- Smiling. A lot.
- Feeling flattered but a touch embarrassed by all the attention and compliments the other ladies in the changing room gave me.
- Putting the dress on hold and grabbing lunch at Carluccios to assess the situation with my Mum and sister.
- Realising that if my dress costs so much less than we had budgeted for there’s only one option for my bridal footwear. Christian Louboutin.
- Loving the new Shoe Gallery in Selfridges. Jimmy Choo, Christian Dior, Prada, Gina. Seriously, it’s shoe heaven.
- Buying my wedding dress!!! *Eeeeeeek*
- Feeling a little giddy and emotional.
- Heading back to my Godmother’s flat for wine, some yummy food and an early night.
- Waking up very early to beautify myself in preparation for the wedding show.
- Meeting up with my future mother-in-law and heading to Battersea Park.
- Loving all the beautiful, inspiring sights and sounds at the show.
- Buying an incredible vintage headband. It is exquisite, I fell in love with it instantly.
- Making the two Mum’s cry when I tried on a veil. Imagine what they’ll be like on the day when they see me in the full get-up!
- Drinking pink champagne.
- Watching the mothers try on lots of stunning hats.
- Giving everyone lots of hugs and celebratory kisses before heading back to Paddington to catch my train home.
- Reading, sleeping and eating away the 3 hr journey.
- Loving the feeling of my fiance throwing his arms round me as I walk in the door.
- Checking on my sleeping babies.
- Collapsing into bed in an exhausted heap but with a big smile on my face.

Wow. you’re steaming head with the wedding prep! We’ve not 100% confirmed our venue and I’ve not tried on a single dress! To be honest I’m leaving it all for a while. Our wedding isn’t until June 2012 ans I don’t want to be sick of weddings by the time it comes around. My Mum is dying to try on dress with me but I’d prefer to lose half a stone beforehand! xx
Ah this post made me smile, sounds like you had a great weekend. x
What a great weekend, it’s such a great feeling when you find the prefect wedding outfit!
Yay yay yay yay yay 🙂 I’m sooo excited for you, I am so pleased you not only found but bought your dress 🙂 And I’m extra excited for the footwear 🙂 xxx
@Magpie Sparkles Yes, you’re right! I had no intention of buying a wedding dress at the weekend, but when you find ‘the one’ (and it happens to be a bargain) you just have to go with it I guess. With our venue we got a hefty discount by booking so far in advance, we saved oursleves £2500!
I had to get on with the bridesmaid outifts because I wanted to shop the A/W collections (as we’re getting married in Jan) but leaving it to next year would have been cutting it a little fine. Also, one of my bridesmaids is off travelling in a couple of months and won’t be getting back to the UK until 2 weeks before the big day!
I think your attitude is right though, my plan is to have a little flurry of planning every 3-4 months. Won’t be doing anything now until the January sales kick in! I think my MA is going to keep me quite occupied for the next 12 months anyway!
Mums love the dress shopping don’t they! My mum was fine when I tried the frock on, it was the veil that set her off. She said it made it all feel very real! So lovely to have a comment from you, please, please keep me posted on your wedding plans when they eventually get going!
@Anonymous Girl I’m glad it made you smile. I thought of you and all your excellent advice many times over the weekend. Hope you and the little one are doing ok.
@Style Frost It was a fabulous weekend! I still feel I have a little way to go in finding the perfect outfit though… still have to sort shoes, veil, jewellery…..!!
@Laura Yay!! I’m excited too!! I keep looking at the pictures! It’s going to take all my will-power not to wear in round the house. It’s so beautiful!

What a whirlwind! This post also made me smile 🙂
