It probably goes without saying that the aspect of my bridal attire that most excites me is the shoes. I am 100% a shoe girl, I can’t resist a pretty pair… whether heels or flats, if I spy a pair I like they usually end up coming home with me!
Having said that, traditional wedding shoes leave me cold… all that ivory satin just isn’t me. Although I’m not adverse to a little bling, I’m yet to find a diamante encrusted pair that excite me either. So, the search for something a little different has begun in earnest….
Coloured wedding shoes may have become more and more popular with brides in recent years but I still think they could raise a few eyebrows among more mature guests (yes, I’m talking about you Gran). I doubt this will deter me though, I’m seriously in love with these Dorothy inspired heels from Kurt Geiger (the style is called Jasmine). In some ways I think it would be rude of me to walk down the aisle in anything other than scarlet glitter!
If I do decide to opt for a more conventional colour I think these Isadora shoes, also from Kurt Geiger, would be perfect. I love the polka-dot effect created by the pearls and you all know I’m mad about bows!
Irregular Choice are probably the greatest purveyors of quirky shoes around. Their styles regularly appear on one of my favourite wedding blogs, Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride. These Courtesan shoes are much more spectacular in real life, a friend of mine wore them in pink to her wedding earlier this year and they looked superb.
As my frock proved to be such a bargain I have a little cash to play around with when it comes to clothing my bridal feet. I’m regularly pouring over the Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo website but I’m yet to spot anything I really love.
There are also some beautiful vintage inspired shoes out there. I’m loving the idea of a bespoke pair of Emmy wedding shoes and Rachel Simpson has some fabulous designs too.
Hmmmm… decisions, decisions!! I may end up with something of a shoe wardrobe on my big day… you know a pair for the ceremony, a pair for the wedding breakfast, a pair for the evening ‘do’ etc, etc!!
What shoes did you/would you wear on your wedding day ladies? Any stunning styles you think I should check out?

My advice would be to be careful with diamanté/pearl encrusted shoes. I wore them to my year 12 ball and my dress ended up getting snagged ALL THE TIME on them, making for some extreme slipping-over-on-my-bum dance moves!
I wore gold heels but then mine was an asian wedding with bold bright colours! I just love those isadora shoes, gorgeous! x
I wore the courtesan irregular choice shoes to my wedding – they are soooo comfy! I can highly recommend! The isadora shoes are very lovely too though! x
@Sam Ooooo, thanks for the tip! I hadn’t thought of that. I have enough worries re. tripping over as I walk down the aisle already!
@Style Frost You should totally do a post on your wedding day style, I bet it would be amazing. Asian weddings are always so beautiful, I LOVE all the colour! I actually saw a pair of Christian Dior heels in gold that I quite liked but I’m more of a silver/pewter girl myself.
@Sweetpea I remember you saying you wore th IR choice pair, I bet they looked fabulous!! I really like the Isadora too, a def maybe!!

thse are gorgeous choices! my sister opted for fushia shoes for her wedding (then she had another fushia pair for back up during the dancing part). i think a bright pop of color is a lot of fun when everything else on you is more uniform -if that makes sense. 🙂
I actually had one official pair (very simple white ones on a small heel) and two additional pairs I changed into as the reception progressed. My dress was so long though that nobody noticed the change! (in hindsight it was probably too long… it kept getting in the way).
@RMb I love the sound of fuschia! I agree about a little pop of colour, the idea def appeals!
@Rocaille I remember your white pair, very pretty and perfect with your dress. I really like the idea of changing at some point. I’m hoping my mum can sew some kind of ribbon to the underneath of my skirt so I can pick it up off the floor while I dance!!

I love the first two especially!
I totally see what you mean about the traditional shoes, I never imagined myself wearing satin white “evening” shoes. I think a nude shoe would go so well with a white/ivory dress.
I recently found a pair of peep toes covered in a sort of nude glitter (not as tacky as it sounds!) and my first thought was “those are my wedding shoes!”
@Rosario Ooooo yes, I hadn’t thought of a nude shoe. that could look very stylish. Nude glitter sounds interesting too, you can’t go wrong with a bit of sparkle can you!!

That first pair are DIVINE!!!!! xxx
